Long upstairs corridor ideas
Comments (2)I wonder whether the darkness of the doors accentuates the narrow, long aspect of the corridor. A mirrored wall might be one way to 'widen' the space. I definitely wouldn't do corbals and chandelier which would mKe it look smaller. Your lighting looks really good currently...See MoreExtra long pendants?
Comments (7)Hi Louise, I just wanted to get in touch as some of our lights would work perfectly in this room. We are a lighting company based in Derbsyhire and design and produce glass pendants - all free blown by our local glass blower just down the road! We often produce chandeliers/pendants for stairwells and can work with you to produce a bespoke piece for this area. If you could send me an email with your address then I can get one of our new brochures and sample packs in the post for you later today. Amy...See MoreLong and narrow living room, please help!
Comments (10)It might be worth looking into a stove with a faux chimney breast. Just looking at your sofa, lamps etc it looks as if you like a classical/transitional style? If you did opt for that and it's feasible to install again I might position it off centre. http://www.woodburners.com/installations/no-chimney,-no-problem.html you may hate this idea but I have a large oriental wardrobe next to my fire which houses the tv. Your tv doesn't look huge so it may be an option if of course you like it. I only know of this one which is an actual tv cabinet or you could do as we did and drill holes in the back of the wardrobe (it obviously needn't be an oriental one but one that doesn't scream wardrobe!) https://www.oka.com/peking-handpainted-chinoiserie-tv-cabinet.aspx Although if you had a fire as the focal point you may find the tv fades into the background or paint the alcoves a darker shade etc. Re rug I suppose it depends if you move the leather seats into the play room but something with a subtle pattern might look nice? Have you looked for anything else to replace the leather? I like the storage unit you've found. It looks as if your side tables would work the other way round so you could have a media cabinet for cd's and dvds where the toys are currently stored or an apothecary cabinet may work well....See MoreIs there a chandelier:room size ratio???
Comments (2)If am of the option that there are a couple of cues to the minimum size. If the room size is: 4m wide x 5m long x 3m high -equals 60m cubed- therefore light fitting minimum 60 cm diameter with 60cm drop. The room can likely take a light fitting that is twice that drop and diameter. Also the ceiling rose is a good indicator- The light fitting room will look too small if less than the diameter of the ceiling rose. The height or drop also depends on the situation. So you must be able to walk under the light fitting unless this is over a table in which case the light fitting can be lower....See More- 4 years ago
