What are the green elements to flooring - laminate sticker, mamoleum or tiles?

Hi Susan,

Thank you for asking,

The green element of the floor is Encaustic Hexagonal Tiles inlaid with the timber floor to give a completely level finish.

Ah thank you, I did use to seal diamond hard finish and put about four coats on. I think I will lightly sand and varnish again over every year. I'm reluctant to get a big mat as knowing my lot they will see that as an excuse to walk even further into the kitchen without taking their wellies off! Re infills - I meant if they remove the skirting and you had some spare flooring, you can put small pieces in to cover the larger gaps. However they would have to be glued in place as they might not stay put being so thin. Also need to leave the expansion gap still so it might not be worth it. I think get some ideas on weighing up the cost of buying thin profile beading to match the floor to put around all the skirt or, look to replace the skirting with a thicker one. Beading looks fine and no one will know that you didn't just put the floor down after the skirting was already there. At least it will be uniform. Beading isn't cheap though so get a price for both

If you have large gaps between the boards then we did find this product in the UK (can’t remember the name though sorry!) that was a tape in a V shape you squeezed together into the gap then it expanded out to hold in place. It’s designed to stop drafts but could work at stopping water from escaping as well. Otherwise there’s the original trick of mixing sawdust from your boards with pva and pushing this between the boards. Few coats of the boat varnish as mentioned might just fill in any small gaps though so it’s only an issue for deep ones.
