I would like to replace front door . Any ideas?
Comments (6)We went with Solidor: http://www.solidor.co.uk/our-doors Very happy with it, 48mm thick with a wooden core, feels nice and solid/secure compared the hideous UPVC door it replaced. Although it should be noted I hate UPVC....See MoreHave you got any ideas to make this house look fantastic?
Comments (32)Hi, If you use an iPad you could download the free Dulux Visualizer app to look at different colours - it's quick and easy (but lighting conditions have to be good) For a cost effective transformation I would have to agree with you and most of the comments by painting the Front door, garage doors and windows of the house. (Use a good primer/undercoat like Zinsser external - shellac or oil based) I would advise all matching colours for a uniform country home feel. The olive green or light green looks nice. For the driveway you could go resin bound which is available in a variety of colours now and lasts much longer than Tarmac with far greater osmosis. Again adding the private home country estate feel at a reasonable price. Rendering comes in various colours (although it is costly) if within your budget will totally transform the look and feel adding to the thermal insulation. And most definitely some easy care, low maintenance plants and planters... You don't have to spend mega bucks! Although probably a good time for discounted evergreens? Comments (13)if you are on a budget - then you really need to focus you spend on key elements that will improve the build and/or add value. so work with the tiles etc. it won't look good being different and may actually devalue. but think new front door and ideally frame is a good idea - perhaps in a hard wood. also consider the window treatments eg roller blinds or voiles etc and how they will look from the reverse eg outside. this can be an easy way to smarten the front. and yes to some simple/architectural planting. the garage door could also be toned down to blend rather than be a 'feature' so you focus on entrance...See MoreHouse makeover ideas please
Comments (33)I may be biased as I grew up in a similar looking 50s chalet bungalow but I like it. Personally before making any changes to the Windows I would add a light-mid colour front door, maybe a nickel porch light and a potted plant in a light colour pot. It all just looks a bit dark to me and I'm not sure the planting is really helping. Apologies for the terrible photoshop but I would change/add some silvery green plants to give contrast against the bricks. If you still don't like it I would reassess then!...See MoreSonia
