what to do with my walls small office? need advice, what, where, why..

Hello, i have small home office with entrance and i can not decide where and how to decorate my walls!!!! i am thinking have a nice clock, wall prints collection (6 frames of 30x40cm), wall letter stickers (quote). It 6x3 m office, with wall with television (above television some nasty holes, i want to hide..) and light grey wall, with corner desk. I also have Skype meetings so my corner desk, so people will see interior also

Wall is very light grey, and other wall pure white.... Cornerdesk i find also difficult, in front i see light grey and to right white wall.... big frames print, or just small and where should i hang clock

I did not buy anything yet for decoration, so if somebody has suggestions wich prints and clocks i should buy or other arts/design accessorizes feel free to comment:)

I added video, check it out, need to spice it up a bit, room is boring and i want to create awesome first impression of the room

Hi, I think how you decorate should really depend on your personality. Surround yourself with things or images that make you smile and make you feel good. Another thing is references to nature can actually help to reduce your stress levels. I see you already have a plant and a few wooden elements so that's great. A view out to nature would be even better if you can reposition where you sit.

I think you may need to post a few images of the kind of interiors you already like so we can get an idea of your taste before we can suggest prints or clocks. Currently from your furniture your taste looks quite minimal, monochrome and quite slick? Perhaps integrating your TV into a storage wall may add a bit of interest.

I hope this helps as a starting point.

I would suggest going for the plain reddish/pink throw with the rose/floral pattern cushion. Keep it to just those colours as you don't want it to look too mismatched as that could give your small room a cluttered feel. To add some glamour easily, I would recommend more lighting in the form of some candles and also perhaps some fairy lights around the window would add something extra to the window alcove.

Hi Kate. It looks a nice room. You only have a couple of pics in your ideabook so there's not much to go on in terms of style and colour. Maybe go for something like the first pic however with a pale grey paint with a blue/lavender undertone on the walls (which your sofas appear to have) and also paint the radiators the same colour. You don't mention if you need privacy, if not, I'd go for Roman blinds hung outside the recess in the wall colour to make the room feel bigger/taller. Similar to the pic id add navy, white and deep mauve cushions and a throw mixing texture (include some velvet!) and pattern. If you add brass for lamps etc it will add warmth in addition to some green for a plant and flowers for the coffee table. This may be a no no (!) but a light grey cowhide rug may work (without markings) to avoid rug "rules". I also like the panelling in the first pic and you could use wallpaper panelling on one wall to the same effect if you're on a budget. The last 2 pics are just really showing how a cowhide rug and panelling could work in an elegant scheme with industrial touches. Depending on layout I might remove the shelves and add a huge mirror over the dining table although ideally it would be on the long wall to make the room feel wider. Dining tables do look good against the back of sofas which may potentially (!) work if your sofas were opposite each other on the short walls and perhaps the door opened the other way but then I'm not sure where the tv would go!

Using a hot works gas torch sounds a bit hazardous and not the safest way of cleaning stonework. Not sure the gas torch would do the plastic cables any favours either, you'd have no internet or tv for a while. An old fashioned new wire brush is probably all that's required, a soft grade wire, not a really hard wire as this will stop too much of the stone surface being ground off. Test on a small inconspicuous patch first and see how it looks, if it looks good then do the rest of the wall. Try not to brush out the mortar though. Don't use a wire brush that has got wet and then got rusty otherwise you may end up creating rusty streak marks. Consider a professionally erected scaffold tower for the high level pieces of walling. Hard work and time consuming but it might work. You can also buy stone cleaner washes which are effectively mild acid washes that take off the surface impurities. Suggest you buy this book, a must have for old, traditional buildings in the UK. https://www.spab.org.uk/publications/old-house-handbook/ SPAB also do training course for home owners so perhaps see if you can get on a course and learn about how to care for your building properly by the industry experts. Hi all-I'm back:). Happy New Year! After a much needed holiday and some down-time, I am back on track! I decided to postpone the redecoration of my office till week after next so that I could take my time in choosing paint colours. I ordered 10 tester colours from Dulux and have been playing with them at work this morning. It's quite incredible how colours on your computer screen look nothing like they do when rolled on white paper or your wall! I'm so pleased I got these tester samples. My plan was to paint my 3 main walls (the only walls that will be painted) a light lilac with the false wall (below my window) a darker grey. But having seen the colours on the wall I could probably get away with a light grey for my 3 main walls and a darker lilac for the false wall-ledge. I want the false wall to stand out and be approx. 2 shades darker than the main walls. Having spoke to Dulux on the phone the woman advised against certain colours as they would make the room feel "closed in". Because it's a small space I do need to be careful not to use too dark a colour for the main walls. I've decided I'm keeping my purple blind so am basing my paint colour choice around the blind, and the grey chairs that I will be ordering from IKEA...attached/uploaded somewhere earlier in this thread:). I've already eliminated a couple of the tester colours simply because I find them too "baby pink"-as if for a newborn baby girl's room (i.e., Lavender Blossom=bottom colour on left) & Soft Montelimar 4=bottom colour on right). I don't want anything too girlie-most of my clients are men:). I've painted 5 colours on the left and 5 colours on the right-hopefully you can make out top to bottom, etc. I like Violet White (the top colour on the left) as a possibility for the 3 main walls, or Goose Down (top left), with Lavender Quartz (4th down on left), Grey Steel 2 (4th down on right) or Chic Shadow (2nd from top on left) as possible colours for my accent false wall (below the window). I love Lavender Quartz but fear it may be too dark for the 3 main walls. So this is where I'm at at the mo! If any of you talented designers have any preferences or colour combination recommendations (I need two colours-a lighter one for the 3 main walls and a darker one for my accent false wall/ledge)-I'm all ears. xx
