built in same colour as walls or woodwork?
Comments (31)You certainly have the height to carry such a look but I wonder whether you would lose the definition in some of that beautiful cornice? I like ceilings painted the same colour as the walls. I considered one shade lighter (ie ammonite) to have a slight contrast. You could also paint the cornice white and the ceiling cornforth but I think that is a more traditional look. On balance my favourite would be the cornice and ceiling painted one shade lighter. What have you done in the rest of the house with the ceilings?...See MoreColour and woodwork advice
Comments (2)Ah bless you House Bunny : )) I have just noticed your post, thank you, I'm very glad you like the Whitening. It does indeed look very nice.. .. Stone pale is good yes to go with it, a lovely plaster finish... Have you looked at Clay pale? It could be really nice too with the flooring and is slightly lighter, and you could use the colour in an eggshell for the skirting or a slightly lighter or darker shade of the Stone pale if you want to pick out the woodwork. The company should be able to mix a shade lighter or darker if you wanted to keep to the same colour variations.... If you want to contrast more with a white for wood work.. Another good white is Slaked Lime or White Lead. :))...See MoreDark Blue bedroom - to paint the woodwork or not?
Comments (2)use a creamier tone rather than white in the bedding, a portland stone kind of colour, warm and comforting, steer clear of any bright whites. milk whites would be better, sheepskin tones. if you do that then you should get away with it, and keep you clear of the coastal/nautical look. don't go buying round mirrors or brass fixtures either ( ;-)...See MoreF&B colour to complement (or detract from) built-in mahogany furniture
Comments (10)Thank you all for your input. I need to perfect the art of closing one eye to block out other colours! I was not good at this! I think you need bigger sample cards than I used. I couldn't paint on the wall as there's currently wallpaper there. My local F&B stockist suggested Shaded White which is a nice, "safe" neutral I think and as the room is quite dark, it seems to work better than the greyer shades I was trying. I guess sometimes what you want is different from what will actually work best and Shaded White seems a good compromise. I'm delighted to have got input from you and I'll post some pictures later of items I'm considering using in the room in the hope of some more advice....See MoreSonia
