They are wrapped in a composite trim material called Boral TruExterior. It is a "polyash" product made from fly ash in a polymer resin then painted.

Hi, the feet are on all of the cabinets at the end of every run when we hit an appliance or just came to the end of the run. Some of the photos up thread were taken before the feet had been added since they were literally the last thing to go on. We actually used the ikea deco strip to create the moulding but we didn't use it the way Ikea anticipate. We fixed it sideways. It is supposed to be fixed the other way around but that look would have been too "modern" for this kitchen. If I was designing the kitchen again I wouldn't bother with the ikea deco strips and would have used pre cut wooden moulding and then painted it. This would have enabled me to have slightly deeper moulding at the ceiling line. At the time of ordering the kitchen I didn't know that we would find an exact paint match for the ramsjo range though. The wooden worktops were incredibly good value IMO. They are american black walnut (butcher block) and are from wood and beyond here worktops This thread doesn't show it but at the same time as doing the kitchen we did the adjoining snug and the large utility room. In the utility room I used the ikea walnut worktop which was ridiculously cheap because it's not solid walnut. There is no way you could ever know it isn't solid though unless you installed it. Its perfectly good. ikea karlby worktop The flooring is my big mistake with this kitchen. As the thread shows, this wasn't originally going to be a complete kitchen refit and it spiralled out of control somewhat. The flooring was being replaced due to a water leak and we went for laminate due to cost. Its from kaindl and as laminate goes its decent stuff with bevelled edges, narrow planks and texture matched finish BUT it was a mistake. It looks great and when you tell people its laminate they have to get down really close to tell but it damages very easily and is scratched, particularly underneath the kitchen table where the kids scrape the chairs in and out (even with felt pads on the feet). If you drop anything on it and it chips thats a problem. This wouldn't have been a problem with wood. I've never had laminate before and hadn't realised it would be this difficult to live with but I wouldn't do it again, I would bite the bullet and install the hardwood. The big benefit of the laminate was that we could have underfloor heating mats which are nice in the winter. The lighting is from Jim Lawrence. The style is called Ava. I love the lighting too and the shape of the glass echos the shapes in the wallpaper. pendant lights The kitchen table was our old ikea oak table which we'd had for ten years. we stained the top in dark walnut and painted the legs white to match the cabinetry. I haven't got a precise figure for everything but in total with the appliances and with the snug and also the large utility room included (which in itself has 14 cabinets) flooring and the decorating in each of those rooms and a hallway, plus new glazed doors through to the hallway and the dining room we spent about £15,000 (a big chunk of this on lovely ikea interest free credit though!). This includes all labour, fitter, plumber (we changed out two radiators for a nicer style), electrician, decorator. We could have saved further money by doing some of the installation ourselves and doing our own decorating (but then it would probably have resulted in selling the house due to divorce!)

I helped my Dad build a fire pit in his garden, he made wooden seats to sit around the metal fire pit with old stone columns for extra seating (unfortunately you can't see the actual fire-pit as behind the stone bench). Lots of stories and fun are had around it until deep into the night. If you have the space it is a great addition to put in! Shannon

Alant1000 Yes we seem to be heading in a contemporary direction, but more from necessity than choice. My husband needs the 850mm width in the Starck3 basin to get the 'shelf' either side for medical needs. The vanity is bigger and boxier than the original plan, but much more practical for him. The matching wall cabinet incorporates a sensor light for night time usage and good lighting for shaving. I'm trying to try and retain the elements of the original scheme that we really liked - the shower and the Fired Earth tiles - and switch to the Starck3 elements. I think they will work together if I can find the right paint colour. I like Campo73's use of Purbeck Stone and will get a sample, but I've also ordered samples of Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter and Edgecombe Gray as they are also midway between brown and grey, but a bit lighter and warmer. I hope one of these three paints will tie the tiles and units together. The units are visually a bit too big for the space, but we need to be practical. If we go for a smaller unit, I'll have to create more surface space via a trolley nearby. So the 850 unit seems to be the best compromise and hopefully the pattern on the floor tiles will mean the unit is not too visually dominant.

The wood effect tiles tend to only come in quite large sizes, saying that, it might do the trick. I'm going for a smoked limed oak LVT flooring through a very large portion of the house which butts up to the kitchen doorway, so I'm not sure if I could see that sort of amount of wood effect going well. I could get a hold of some more blonde/warm samples but I'm guessing what HIS answer will be already although its certainly worth a look. Perhaps Cornish driftwood? http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod45453/cornish-driftwood-dark-tile.html ... but we are back to the problem of finding sensible sized tiles as wood effect is generally only made suitable for floors... The herringbone is a glossy tile, but also textured ripped and pitted, it is however £333/square metre so oven splash maybe but not as a main on both the kitchen and laundry! I'm operating on a budget of £600 to £1000 for tiles supply only, plus trims, adhesive, etc. If I tile regular splashback heights, its square metres, plus nearly another metre behind the oven up to the extractor. I hear what youre saying about being careful not to detract from the lights. As we see the window directly from where we sit in the living room, we found we quite like that the wires disappear into the black background so the globes kind of float there. Thats mainly why I liked the marbled effect paper rather than a strong pattern or light colour there. / Here is a better view of the Terra pearl that I am waiting on (less than £50/m), and as you can see, youre all spot on that I'm looking for texture / a more tactile finish. The thought is that it may go very well as the main splash, tying in with the light strip in the floor as well as putting a bit more light into the room I was dead set on the metallic steel linear mosaic for some time, below is the copper version nobody seems to have a sample of, However, once the granite went in, the screen printed effect on the tiles look absolutely awful Painting the wall the same colour of the cupboards....
