Is the mirror behind the Hob toughened for the heat?

Wow! Good to hear. I live in Ireland and have been told that Antique Mirror glass cannot be toughened for heat. I can only use antique mirror or any type of mirror behind a hob if I raise it from the worktop. Do you know of any suppers in Ireland that provide antique mirror toughened mirror? Many thanks.

Hi. The kitchen looks great, where did the fridge end up going?! I like the tiles, they will go with the units and the prism shape mirrors the table. I also like the idea of adding a different texture however I don't think the different shades of white work together (on my screen anyway!) so would look for a different shade of white . How big is the veining as choosing a different scale for the prism tile would work? You could also consider a grey grout. I'm not sure my pictures help but just showing a tile laid in a pattern with a veined worktop and sandwiching a black worktop with white units and tiles. I love the angel and boho bench, I've posted that so many times on here! These chairs aren't a wishbone and no longer available (!) but maybe a wishbone could work or something similar in shape? I might also paint the utility door in the wall colour to help it blend in?

Saw an article on Apartment Therapy talking about mirrored splashbacks recently. Had some lovely photos featured, I personally preferred the options where the glass is raised up from the hob slightly. Could you maybe get a piece of the upstand cut to fill the gap? Also having it 'framed' by wall either side looks better to me than it spanning the whole space. I've mocked it up to extractor fan level and to ceiling level (I've guesstimated the tile scale but hope it gives you the idea). Here is a photo of the mirrored splash-back in situ. It cost £230 which included the templating and fitting. I would recommend having the glazier do the templating and fitting as they should then take responsibility if it subsequently cracks within a couple of weeks of fitting...this happened to us and the glazier came and removed the cracked one and replaced it. Apparently it can happen if the fit is tight around the cut outs. We are really pleased with it.

Hi Darren, Here are a some images showing some similar finishes you have specified. This is a FB colour on a plain glass - Manor House Grey This is antique bronze mirror below. The below also has the Antique bronze mirror as a large single panel on the wall and also fitted in the Island Niche. The below is FB Blackened - Nice and reflective, and matches the wall colour almost perfectly - looks great with the light and dark tones of the cabinets. This is a plain Bronze mirror - looking completely different to the Antique version. Finally I have one in a Dark Blue - I don't have a better image unfortunately. We did notice it did darken the niche area when it was installed a lot....this may be a contributing factor in your decision... Best of Luck, once you have decided, I'd love to see what you go with.
