Faux Crittal or sliding doors?
The back of my house will look something like this:
I keep swinging between faux Crittal and sliding doors. I love Crittal but concerned that a) its everywhere at the moment (will its day soon be over?), b) French doors swinging in the wind will irritate me, c) I love the actual Crittal doors but can't afford the genuine article and the copy cats can look a bit boxy.
On the other hand will it be annoying to have to open a massive sliding door every time I need to pop out?
I'm also not sure about the thresholds. Seems that you can get a flush threshold on a sliding door but not a Crittal-style, although I could be wrong.
What would you choose?

Comments (8)This is similar to another post on here, where they are nearing the end of the build and are now starting to think about furniture placement. You have to do the furniture from the off set, otherwise you run the risk of not being able to lay out a room well. Your husband may not want to indent the room too much visually but i'm sure you will want a T.V in the lounge area, so you need to work out where you will put the sofa and T.V before you build. Hopefully the 2.2 metres is the internal space not the external, is there a reason why it's so narrow? It's going to be difficult to put the furniture in there regardless due to the size restriction. I've just measured our dining table, and when you pull the chairs out either side in order to sit down from chair to chair it measures 2.1 metres, so you can see just how tight the space will be. As you see from the renders above I had to move the furniture backwards in to the existing room in order to fit it in............so it's really important to think about it carefully. Comments (7)Hi Tracey, Why not look at getting the Crittall doors in white to match the bifolds? I haven't got a close up photo of the Crittall system in white but I have a photo of a similar aluminium system in white which may be give you an idea of it being a suitable match to your white bifolds... The black can look a little stark against other white doors or windows but the style is such a great look it is well worth exploring the possibilities. Comments (30)The examples shown above don’t look anything like Crittal windows though. The whole essence of Crittal is their very fine mullions and transoms. If the metal isn’t thin but chunky the proportions are all out and then the effect is clunky - not like Crittal at all, they just look like any old windows coloured black. 3 years agoI haven’t got a picture of my sisters doors, but they look very similar to this. All the panes slide open as required. You could cover your bottom fence walls with climbers like star jasmine and roses so you have something beautiful to look at?
