Can I put my new kitchen in without my french doors?

Our french doors have been delayed by a few weeks however we want to get our kitchen in so that the house is ready before Christmas. Is there a way (other than boarding the space up) to get the space waterproof and secure so that the kitchen can continue to progress? Or is this a stupid idea and we should be waiting?
