Should we choose a different colour front door?

We are having our rotten windows replaced with black Matt frames & keeping the 9 mm led glass. Should we keep the front door black or change it & if so, any suggestions?

Ah the front door dilemma.....I like a nice bright front door like yellow or bright blue, but if that’s a touch too bright then sage green or lilac is soft. I’ll try and find some idea pictures.

I found a pic earlier of a light grey Edwardian house with charcoal windows on houzz as shown. I also found one of the french grey and agree it looks green so I am not doing my house in that either although it does look nice on windows with cream render! Little Greene have some fab colours so maybe a pale but warm grey. Do also try the Dulux heritage colours if you want a period colour

Hi We provide LED lamps in 2700K (very warm - yellow) , 3000K (warm white - yellow), 4000K (cool white - white will a hint of yellow), 5000K (soft daylight - very white), 6000K (daylight - more harsh white with hint of blue). Between different makes of LEDs - there will be variations too. What we have seen is that this is very much on personal preference and also how the light interacts with the colour of the units in your room. You should try some options if possible and see what you prefer. If you want to warm your room up go for warm white. If you want to have a sharper look go for cool whiite 4000K (we are seeing this is getting more popular), if you want seriously white then go for daylight (5-6000K). One thing we recommend against is using all in one LED fixture like the H2, because the LED market is moving fast, In 4 years time, if one fixture fails and this unit is not made anymore, it may be replaced with a non-matching fixture. With a LED GU10, you can just change the bulb without having to replace the fixture. Out Professional 7W DGP4 lamp has interchangeable lens (60 degree standard and 38 degrees optional) and really bright. Additionally, you should also check the under cabinet lighting. I think your instinct is spot on - the grey does not go with your lovely house at all! You said yourself, 'the grey craze', why follow the herd? Perhaps you should question why you want a 'contemporary colour' instead of one of the many choices which will enhance your beautiful period house. You don't see lovely pink Suffolk cottages, or the black and white half timbered houses characteristic of some areas daubed with grey because it's the latest fad.

I live in a similar era house. Are you not actually allowed to change the window colour or is it that you don't want them to stand out? I think that black windows would look better so the darker the better. For me the first thing that had to go on my house was the square browns guttering. We changed ours to black and our painted the woodwork underneath the guttering black and it dragged it forward by twenty years. I know this isn't the answer to your question but I thought I would mention it as I have a similar era house.
