Help with Bedroom Decorating !
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for some advice on decorating our master bedroom...
We have a dark wood bed in great condition, so, although it's not my first choice in style, I'm trying to work with it. In an effort to brighten up the room and soften the look (I find it a little masculine), i purchased a new rug. The colours are white, Gray, and blue...all quite cool. I would like the room to feel warm and serene, but not dark, and not busy. I am ready to buy new bedside tables and a dresser. Should they be white? What colour of chaise lounge or "nest" would y'all suggest? Gray? Can i use beige?
Any suggestions are welcome!

I think any dark, rich colour could work well (would paint the skirts in the wall colour) but if you didn't want to paint the furniture either a really deep teal or inky blue would work well. Perhaps use ochre or burnt orange as accent colours or moss or emerald/grass green work really well with an inky blue. I assume the ceilings aren't tanked so you'll need a ceiling fix pole? Having floor to ceiling curtains will make it feel taller. I'd also have a tall portrait leaner mirror on the wall opposite the window to make it feel taller and to bounce light (do you know where the stud work is for attaching things to walls?) Could you have a light weight canvas hung on the chimney breast attached with those sticky pads? Agree re lighting and would also add 1/2 floor lamps. Is an electric stove in budget for the chimney? My only reservation is dark walls against a white ceiling. I think my basement is the same height and I deliberated for ages and in the end painted it all white :) there is an argument that dark ceilings can create depth as you can't see where they end.. also an argument re white gloss or Matt finish for the ceilings! If you did go for dark walls though i might consider a mid shade for the ceiling...See Morebedroom empty wall decoration, help!

Comments (11)@daisy England - thanks for your reply. yes correct doors are walnut and bed is oak...but bed is to go! I would prefer a material large feature headboard just not sure what colour to compliment?? orange is a good contrast colour, thankyou hadn't thought of that. @HU-290967725 - thanks for the images does help to get different ideas. I love gold with the navy but the sofa has silver studs on so I think it wouldn't link...do you think? glad of any other help. TQ...See More

3 years agoHi, are the walls grey? I think painting the bed frame would be a great idea. I would paint it a soft taupe, which is a sort of grey and beige mash up! Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone might be nice, but they have loads of lovely neutrals. . I would use eggshell paint which gives a soft sheen but best to use a primer first. The rug is gorgeous, good choice. I think introducing some taupe in the cushions would be good. Painting the wall behind the bed in a deeper taupe may help lift it too. If painting the bed is too much effort, it would still work as adding a deep shade to soft neutrals helps to life the scheme. Here’s some ideas showing how well taupe, grey and black or navy sit well together.
