Living room curtain advice please
Comments (13)You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. Check out readymade by Montgomery https://www.montgomery.co.uk/ready-made-curtains/whitworth-21-duck-egg/9927, John Lewis (Scion Navaho), Terry's Curtains, Heals. If you choose a multi coloured pattern, later changes to your lounge will not necessarily mean that you need to change the curtains. Remember that decorating your home is less about style and more about you and your family. Have fun....See MoreAdvice for living room curtains
Comments (11)i think it's done an autocorrect on the paint colour, which one is it?,Is that wall painted a different colour to the rest? It's also hard to work out the sofa colour! I'm not sure if this fabric would work? I think I'd go for a green tufted footstool and add a tray And accessories. Not sure if this is the perfect one for the orange wood but just to give an idea. I think you need to repeat the orange, maybe for a copper lamp (can the sofa move away from the end wall a little?) and/or framed pictures. If you didn't like the footstool you could go for a painted table with wood top...See Morelooking for advice on blinds / curtains - trying to brighten room
Comments (12)Hi Lee- the window recess is actually a bonus in this case because it gives you sufficient depth for the 2 blind mechanisms. Plus the additional recess into the ceiling will help as well because it will disguise hanging the blinds at slightly different heights, eg one rod above the other, which you will likely want to do to get both blinds as close to the window as possible. The closer the blind the less light through the sides. I would recommend you get a standard roll roller blind, eg you want the fabric to go down the back of the roll. We’ve had really good luck ordering from Tuiss in the past for our roller blinds, and they do Romans’ as well. One thing you might also want to look at is cassette blinds, which have fixed side rails and thus offer better blackout and thermal coverage. We have a “Velux Duo” on a loft window and it’s terrific. It would give you a different option to combine a pull-up bottom mounted sheer blind to hide passerby (but keep the upper part of the window uncovered for better light) along with a traditional top mounted roman/roller blind for nighttime cover....See MoreRequest for advice for lighting + curtains for kitchen and living room
Comments (5)Dear "Little John Products" thank you very much. I do not know what exactly i am looking for, this is why I am looking for inspiration and ideas in Houzz. If you have any links to sites where I can look at images and compare prices, this would be very much appreciated. Ideally, I am looking for silver colour metal and crystal/glass chandeliers. Oppulent and stunning. Thank you very much....See MoreCaroline Roopun
