Please can someone advise on how I can make this wall less ugly??
We’re currently renovating this 1970’a build. This is the master bedroom and it’s roughly 3.4x2.9m. The only viable place for our king size bed is opposite this wall!
I honestly do not want to wake up everyday seeing these 2 doors. We will be changing the carpet/furnishings but these doors are going to be backlogged if I can’t think of a solution. I unfortunately cannot lower the higher door because of the stairs. Can’t seal because it the boiler access and wasted storage space!
I’ve been thinking of potentially covering them both up with faux diy wardrobes. or maybe take the architraves off and installing new ones that would blend with wainscotting but I’m not sure.
I would love to knock the wall between the wardrobe and the cupboard but I need to ask if it’s possible structurally and budget-wise. My gut feeling says no as we have had to remove everything in the kitchen/living room and bathroom from the floorboards up!
I can be optimistic about changing them in the future and settling for painting for now, but I honestly cannot think of a way to make this nicer.

Comments (10)I would start with her bedroom, that's the area she wil rest. Keep it neutral and and peaceful. Make the curtains cheerful that will be the first thing she'll see when she wakes up. A four feet bed will be comfortable for her and find out how much it will cost to raise the bed ...at a certain age it is more comfortable to get in and out of. Table lamps which by a touch will light up a big alarm clock... Older people always want to know the time! Two bedside tables. Soft carpet for her feet and a big collage on the wall with photos of her family. I would get rid of the wardrobe is is so huge and if you look on your local ebay and put you postcode in you will be able to get a good bargain. Look for a comfy chair too with a floorlight for reading. If space a nice little table (local ebay) will make it complete. Your mum prefers her wall painted but again a roll of cheerful wallpaper for one wall in her bedroom will make it special for her. Try to get rid of all the clutter like those two shopping trolleys perhaps in a cupboard in the hall? I have done a lot of houses up on a shoestring and it is a challenge but can be so satisfying. One thing I have learnt ....ALWAYS finish one room completely before going on to the next room. At the moment it looks like an empty canvas and it's true that you can do lots with this space. If I was you I would consider adding a large framed artwork, multiple framed images, mirror, wallpaper, lighting design or a colourful carpet for the stairs. Comments (7)Well, I really like your house! Love the roof and porch roof, full of character. There is a new type of render that is already coloured so never needs repainting. Maybe that can be applied on top of your rendering? You would have to check with a builder or decorator on that. The windows aren’t that bad, but if you want to change them to wood then do so, but they will need a lot of maintenance so think carefully. Comments (35)If this is a short term fix, I'd try to find a fabric to tie in those terracotta ties with the off white paint you're using elsewhere and just put a simple roman blind (it doesn't need to work) at the window. Something like this will tie in and has the grey of the floor. We moved last year and I'm sorting out building work - in the meantime I've added nice curtains and blinds and it's meant I don't mind living with it. And I think the open shelves alongside the window will make an enormous difference in taking the eye away from the tiles....See More

But you can simply paint the doors white or light grey, change the handles and add some feature (see pics below).
About the smaller door you already have somethink like a frame on it so you can turn it into an art piece (the chepeat and fastest way is to get so cool wallpaper you can get free samples from almost everywhere) and cover it. I've done this so many times either on a blank canvas or a frame.
Smaller frame but you get the idea, and please excuse the dust, I was sanding a table yesterday :D
