60s housefront update

I have had an offer accepted on an amazing house (on the inside), but my partner and I are a little lost about what the options are to improve the front of the house. We've done a lot of google searches, but cant find any updates on houses like ours. The dark brown, while appearing like they are tiles, seem to actually be concrete or something. Any ideas would be really appreciated!

The house we have just moved into is very similar we are going down the Render & Western Red Cedar look.

Thanks, it would be amazing to see your designs when you do them. Do you know if you need planning permission? I'm assuming yes, but probably because I'm always pessimistic about these things, better to be happily surprised than disappointed!

Would love to see any photos of the New England style cladding, we have a 1960's house that we are updating and are considering both render and cladding. We are making the top windows deeper and are trying to decide whether to use white or grey aluminium/pvc frames. We have had grey (covered in tape in pic) bifold doors installed but can have these powder coated in white if it is better to stick to white windows. Thank you!

Thank you so much that’s great!!! I will show my husband tonight. Yeah you might be right about not rendering. The other houses are all either this colour brick or a brown/red brick but the same style so I was worried about it standing out too much. Unfortunately the brick wouldn’t go that light though. Even when cleaned it’s very yellow with black flecks in it. I’ll try and attach a picture of the internal brick before we painted it. The conservatory will go as it’s leaking and quite old and I’d rather have some smart bifold doors leading onto a patio. It’s also brown so wouldn’t match the new glazing as we would either go with white grey or black. Here is a picture of the brick...

Once they are painted, some long oak handles could look good. In terms of painting and labour, I would use oil eggshell paint from Little Greene or Paint and Paper library. Although I do use Farrow and Ball emulsion for the colours, I think the quality is poor and the water based eggshell truly awful. As a comparison, when doing woodwork, it often takes 3 to 4 coats of F&B to cover properly, compared to 1 or 2 of oil based from the above. You have a huge area to paint, so this needs careful thought. The other thing is that F&B eggshell dries as you are applying it, making it very difficult to use as it drags - this can be helped by adding a paint mix to increase flow. However, if you are painting flat panel doors like yours it's not like painting sections, it has to be done carefully in one go so again, give it some thought.

A good architect should be able to improve the frontage along with your extension. I agree the wonky porch is very odd! Also the problem with block paving is the huge amount of weeds seeds that plant themselves in the grout, a real nightmare. My sister recently had her drive covered in resin gravel and it looks amazing. She left a sweeping border on one side which she has planted with plants from Morrison’s. I think that would look nice.
