Love the fence what is it called?

Hi! I keep seeing this gorgeous fencing - is it something bespoke or can I buy it 'off the shelf'? thanks so much! Your designs are so gorgeous- I'm really inspired!

Hi Mel, thank you for your kind comments, so pleased you're feeling inspired. The fencing here is built in situ and we used the existing fence panels for support as the adjoining neighbour had established planting which they didn't want to disturb. You can buy this style of fencing as pre made panels - have a look at Jackson Fencing's Venetian Fencing Panels or their Venetian 'Hit and Miss' Fencing panels which are double sided for increased privacy. If I may say so, deciding the colour of the fence is the wrong place to start. Think about what you want to DO in your front garden/yard, work out colours for planting and then pick a picket fence colour that provides a great backdrop. For example, if you have a lot of pastel flowers you might pick a mid to dark green for your fence or one of the flower colours could be fun. It also depends what styling you have in the interior of your house, e.g. contemporary would lend itself to crisp monochromatic colours outside, while shaker style might invite a softest blue or green. Have fun with this.

The cheapest option is treated softwood battens, 19x38 works well, pretty much all timber merchants will stock these or similar. They still look good, maybe not as good as a Western red cedar in my opinion but less then half the price per linear metre... One thing to keep in mind, if your going to use a nailgun (recommended) its the cost of the nails that will get you!

I like the grey/black of the bit of trellis opposite for the fence, and then a nice sage green for the shed? There is a fantastic range of colours by Cuprinol Garden Shades and its really nice paint. I think you can go a bit OTT with the shed, such as pink maybe, but stick to classic greens, blues and neutrals if that’s too much! Here’s the colour chart, but they have a good website that allows you to see all the colours on a shed or fence etc.

Hello folks. Thank you for your replies. Its private land. We live on an Estate. We do have lots of big trees around us and wouldn't want to block the beautiful view. We have 2 little apple trees that have such lovely blossom at the moment. We nearly went with Leylandil to hedge all the way round but glad we didn't due to its reputation and problems we would probably get. What we had in mind was something that would grow in and on the fence but no higher and to block the dogs (we have 2 huge dogs) view. Like a screen. We wanted something that smells nice as we are going to try and make this area into a relaxing dining area eventually so sweet smells would be lovely of an evening. The fenced off part is our garden which is just under an acre but very big, boring and a huge task to landscape. We have tried planting some flowers Lupins, Roses, a Magnolia Tree etc but the dogs have crushed some of the Lupins. You might just see them in the picture I attached. We are going to stop with the plants and go for the fence climbers. Eventually all the way round. I put some pics up of what we have to deal with landscaping wise. Alot of work to do. Its only windy in Autumn and Winter. We have bought some Jasmins and Clematis for some of the fence. Love the yellow ones. You live somewhere really beautiful but it does look windy there. Probably alot more windy than here by the looks of it. I have never seen those before. I will most definitely try out a few along the fence somewhere. Thank you. Lots of things keep changing while trying to do this garden and its been quite expensive trying it out but fun and we will carry on. I think what we're looking for is a hardy beautiful fragrant fast fence climber that will block the fence part but not above it that can handle some wind and lots of sun all day 😁

We used Jackson Fencing’s Chilham panels in our London terrace garden 5 years ago. We have gotten so many compliments and queries about them, and have now had friends use them in their own gardens. They still look as good as the day we put them in. Highly recommended!
