Ideas for bathroom

Hi! After having the bathroom redesigned (taken a double shower out and replaced with a bath, I am thinking about what to put above the toilet to take away from all the grey - on the other side of the wall there used to be shelves which we may put back up along with a sink unit and mirror.. any ideas on art or items to break it up a bit.. ?

A long large piece of art over the bath and (with a glass cover) would be a great way to introduce some colour - maybe pale blue - which you could then tie in with towels and other accessories.

It does look a little bare. I would add some art or a big mirror on that wall. Or a couple of wooden shelves stacked with fluffy towels and plants. I would also add some plants on the window sill to soften the look,

Is it too late to change the plumbing layout? I think it would be more in keeping with the period feel to only have the bath and washbasin visible, and hide the loo and shower. If you had a partial partition across the room you could position a freestanding bath in front of it so that was the focal point as you entered from the bedroom, and hide the loo and shower behind, accessing one from one side of the bath and one from the other. They would still be in roughly the same position as your current plan. Then put a washbasin or vanity unit that looks gothic on the wall backing onto your bedroom. If rearranging causes problems with plumbing then raising the bath shower and loo section so you stepped up to it would give plenty of room to play with under a raised floor. If you panelled the partition you would add to the gothic feel.

Depending on where the door opening is you could move the wc to where the basin is at the mo and then put the basin on the wall beside the rad: in which case you could get a mirror cabinet on the wall above and maybe another unit in the corner. Otherwise the layout as it is is probably the best option but, as suggested above, some smart built in units would work really well. A good inward-folding shower screen and a decent shower bath (not necessarily a p- or d-shaped) will make it more user-friendly and I would suggest looking at an overflow filler controlled by the shower valve rather than a bath tap so that there’s less to clean. :) Underfloor heating can be lovely and shouldn’t cost much in the grand scheme of things: the roll out matting version is pretty easy to install.

Hi Ashleigh, It depends on how much work you would like to do on the property. If you are looking to move in the near future, maybe sprucing it up a little might make you feel better. However, creating a hallway cutting through the master bedroom might be an option, it would make the master bedroom smaller however the space would function better, you could close off the door between bathroom and master. meaning no one has to walk through to get to the bathroom. Or maybe if there is room to extend into the back, you would have more space to explore other options. Trailing/hanging plants on the window (e.g pothos, wandering Jew, spider plant, Boston fern)

Slim wall shelves over end of bath in your style of choice.

Framed print over the toilet.

The star pattern on the floor is lovely. Could you perhaps find a mirror with a star shaped frame? Are you planning to put a blind or curtains in the window? Again you could use a fabric with stars but maybe in a different colour that can be picked up in towels and accessories and the colour of the mirror frame. Choose a warm colour to brighten the grey.

As you have chrome, a chrome shelf unit would sparkle against the gray. With green plants - and if you aren't green thumbed faux plants are soo real these days! So you could go shiny with chrome accessories. Or you could go wood, bamboo with shelf or mirror, and accessories. The bath pic i think shows how well wood, chrome and plant greenery can work on a grey .
