This was a renovation project so before the sunroom ceiling was drywalled we reinforced the ceiling with wood joists to bear the weight. if you wanted to hang swings indoors you would need to access the ceiling and do the same.

thank you. I have sunroom where i would like to design something like this. wanted to do something different than usual sitting. Also can a person swing on it daily?

Lights which automatically turn on when I enter a room (especially in the kitchen and in the hallway from the bedroom to the bathroom) and lights inside my wardrobes (especially inside the one in the bedroom: I often get up earlier than my hubby, and it may be still dark outside, and I don't want to wake him up while I'm looking for my stockings).

Hi OnePlan, Never done a swing in-door! Seating 3 adult (potentially) + the weight of the sofa ... I will definitely recommend to check how much the structure you attached it to can take (counting the movement of getting on and off). Also check how much space you have around it as when you seat it will naturally move and the last thing you want to do is swing into the wall at the back or side. Hi again! For anyone that's interested, I have finally managed to have a go at my varnished stone fireplace and am pretty happy with the results… It's not perfect but makes a huge difference in terms of light in the room and cost me next to nothing! I used a tiny bit of annie sloan paint to dull and lighten the stone - my mum sent me leftovers of 'paris grey' that she had used on some furniture. The link I had found which described the painting process belonged to an artist, so I was aware that my results would differ quite drastically from hers, but I'm still happy! I also had a new mantlepiece made from old planks that my boyfriend has had stashed away for years - a carpenter we often use put it together for the equivalent of about US$10. We don't own the house so I haven't waxed the paint on the stone (meaning it can be washed off with water and a light scrub) and the new mantlepiece is literally slotted on top of the old one and discreetly screwed in place. It is no huge home improvement project but made a big difference to the feel of the room using minimal time, money and mess… Now just the rest of the room to decorate…!

Dutch 1950s house here. First thing we did was insulate insulate insulate. The exterior walls are made of 13cms thick concrete, so we used high end bubble foil and plasterboard (plus loads of slats and screws) to insulate all the walls and double layer of rockwool on the attic floor (attic remained as it was built, because the wooden structure was meant to breathe). Then took out the pine floors and insulated some more before placing the pine back. All of this diy, which I bet we've already earned back twice in the past 8 years, saving on heating bills! We also spent a small fortune on hr+ pvc windows, but the comfort (and silence) is amazing! All well worth the money. We keep our heating on 16/17C, because moist (and mold) was a major problem in here before we moved in. And when we get home/up and turn it to 19/20C, it only takes about half an our to get there. The bedroom radiators are mostly on the frost-free position. Our central heater (gas) is a model from 1994 but serves us well. So does our wood burner, which we ocassionally use in winters. Our home's footprint is 6.5x6.5m, so it takes about 5 small logs to heat our livingroom to 24 degrees, the benefits of a small home!
