Bathroom Sink Under Window - No Mirror

Hey,

I’m having a bit of a dilemm, in my new house the layout of the bathroom has me a little confused, basically the sink has been positioned directly below the window meaning there is no way to position a mirror.

Has anyone else had this issue in the past and how did you overcome it (I’ll need a mirror to shave).

You could have a mirror on an extending arm to one side? Or if the window is big enough mirror the bottom half?

In our main bathroom the sink is underneath the window but the window, which is about 1.2m off the floor. We just have a freestanding mirror on the window cill.

Hello dsummerfield75, Euro Duo at Bath Store comes in 500 and 700... Take a look and they also sell a sleek contemporary style bottle trap so it can hang as is.. I have selected the no tap holes option, but of course you can choose tap hole if you prefer.. Hi. I'm a bit confused, have you bought the vanity and are looking to paint it? Is the rest of the bathroom fitted as you could add brass or copper taps for instance with a matching mirror? Accessories will also warm it. I like a little wooden stool in a bathroom which you can add accessories to i.e. A candle, natural sponge, flannel etc which has some texture. A plant on the window sill if you have one and then nice accessories for the sink and either some coloured towels or I like hammam ones. I've found a couple of pics but they may not post as houzz has issues :( These are using deep rich colours which may bring the cabinet towards you a little. A darker top for the vanity would also work

I've been thinking about options to cover all basis and came up with this. To allow guests to use a bath/shower the ensuite would be shared. I added a wall in the master bedroom to divide it and add privacy so guests don't have to walk into the bedroom to get to the bath/shower. The upsides are that the ensuite is larger, includes a bath and shower and has more vanity room. Also, by diving the bedroom I can add sort of a walk-in wardrobe. The downsides are that there's only one bath/shower that has to be shared and guests have to walk through the walk-in wardrobe to get to it. Also, it reduces the size of the master bedroom but it's quite a long room anyway and it would cut out the light from the windows in the bedroom. Personally I don't see these as big problems but I guess some people won't like it. Do you think this is a good idea?

With our bathroom, there was only really one layout that would work with the plumbing and odd shape, I tried for ages with the designer to think up a creative way to get the vanity on a wall but it just wasn't possible to have that and keep a separate shower. I really like the look of the hanging mirrors but just can't get my head around where you would buy them from, or how you would modify an existing mirror. I think you are right though about getting a dressing table mirror and hopefully should be able to get prettier ones than the basic circular magnifying mirrors that the bathroom shops seem to have. So this is what I’m working with (yes, they should have switched the sink and toilet, the house is full of these types of flaws and design mistakes :( ).

I guess a freestanding or folding is my only option (both of which I wanted to avoid as they never look “good”).

It’s not so much that there aren’t good designs, I just think they look awkward when positioned in a windows blocking all the light (maybe that’s just a me thing...).

A folding shaving mirror on the wall for stuff that you want to do over the sink and a larger one on another wall for checking your outfit for example?
