Wondering if anyone can anyone help with layout please?

We would like to refurbish our house ground floor, the left side originally was garage, it is now used as a bedroom and utility room, the showing room is too small and the utility room is too large, can anyone help with a new layout design? Thanks a lot.

Brilliant things to consider Minnie thank you. Only 4 of us in the house, and we do have a seperate dining room. I only want casual bar stool seating for the kitchen but am struggling with where else to place 4 bar stool. Haven't got the width of room to have them all down the side of island facing the wall of units, plus I really like the sleek look of an island and didn't want to interupt that streamlined look by having seating around one end in an L shape. Can't thing of any other option unless someone can thing of something to consider I'd be very grateful. I had my heart set on a mirror splash back but got put off as people said I would have water marks on it all the time from the sink.....is that everyone's experience of a mirror splashback or might I have made a hasty judgement? I was thinking of a washed light grey oak type flooring or a warm oak flooring but was worried if I went for oak ( this would be my colour preference) that it wouldn't work as I will have nothing else oak in the room. It's a south facing room, sun all day and evening so was thinking of a off white light grey tone on the walls and lots of chrome......again struggling to know how to incorporate that and what to put with it colour/ accent/ decor wise to make it feel comfy and not clinical. I'd love dark coloured glass slider but all windows in house are white so I had discounted it. I agree with Daisy- the utility is a barrier to the garden. If you just combine the kitchen and utility you will be left with a thin room. In my opinion all three together would be best. I would however create at least a cupboard for the washer and dryer as you don’t need that noise and clutter in the largest room in the house.

Never sure about separate playrooms. If your children are young, you’ll want them in the kitchen/open plan space so you can all be together as a family during the day. If they’re a bit older, they could play (games consoles etc) in the front living room. I think your current design might mean you just have a walk way through to your kitchen with no purpose. How about opening up the whole of the back into one big space with plenty of built-in cupboard storage for toys? Kids are little for such a short time really, it seems a shame to ‘lose’ that space. Also can you have windows on that side of your house? If not, potentially the playroom would be dingy. Just my thoughts! H x

I literally just took a screen shot on my iPhone and edited it, whilst having my brunch. Others do great mock-ups but I’m no except just use Houzz as a great source of ideas. If you search “apps” on the discussion search bar you should find some recommendations. We did a loft conversion about 3yrs back in or small cottage so we had to make use of every spare space possible. Good luck with your project. It looks v exciting. Hopefully you will get some great ideas that you can work incorporate in your design.
