Sliding Doors - Bonded or Beaded

Hi all, I have been going back and forth on whether to have bifold or sliding doors for my new kitchen extension. My heart says sliding and I am going to have a 3 panel option so at least I get 2/3 of the door open on good days! My question is do I go with a slightly thicker sightline to get a beaded system or are there rarely issues with bonded systems so I should be safe to go with a slimmer sightline door?! Has anyone has a nightmare with a bonded door?! My opening is 3.7m wide by 2.3m high.

A bonded system means that you can go for a more minimal frame design while still having a secure door, it not only has a lovely modern aesthetic, it also offers a more secure glass fixing technique. The glass unit is chemically adhered to the outer frame, meaning that it simply cannot be removed. Hope this helps! Best of luck!

I'm not even sure what bonded/beaded means and I have new aluminium slider 3.5m! I'd recommend 2 pane though as it's not a huge opening, less sightlines too.

Hi , we recently had renovation done to the bedroom upstairs and have made an ensuite and installed a pocket door which we bought the kit from eclipse.it looks great now but the only problem was the builder found it s bit tricky to install it and despite showing him the youtube videos it was a mission for him. He got it at the end and it looks good.

Are you doing this as a refurb to sell on, or are you living in the house when finished? It sounds like a refurb, as you mentioned the estate agent. I'd have to disagree with her take on things. Most people I would have thought would ask about the windows, as energy bills are costly...........if they've got any sense. There are many companies out there that do reclaimed units, maybe consider having a look at some of those - here's a couple:- Reclaimed centre or used upvc windows and doors New windows however, with a guarantee are a selling point, so this is why i disagree with the estate agent.

Funnily enough I was just thinking about kitchen artwork. Hi I think you should consider completely 'flipping' the space, using the grass area as your driveway/parking area, and joining the rest of your current parking/bin area to the paved area you already use for sitting eating. To show you what I mean, in the image below the new driveway area is in blue, and the new garden area is in red. I appreciate this probably means more work/cost in digging up and turfing some paved bits and paving some grassed areas, but to me the advantages are: a parking area wide enough to get two cars in and out past the other; it consolidates both the spaces you use for leisure into a single, larger area; your kids will be able to get to the play area by the back door, rather than by the front. This might be safer/more convenient; and if you built a fence between the red and blue sections you could improve security by removing easy access to the back of the house.
