Want to replace the Tudor with cladding. Do we go cream or dark wood? Would be so greatful for a mock up 🙏🙂

Wood or just paint the cream a darker color to create less contrast. And perhaps make the garage doors looks the same.

I agree with darker - I think the reason the light door PP posted looks good is the style. A light colour with a modern design wouldn't have the same effect. This a Cromwellian house in Herefordshire fitted with one of our stainless steel Letterplates and the door colour looks great with the black and white. The porch timber is paler than the rest of the house timbers (you can just see the black window frame to the right) and is a modern addition but as it's still a shade of grey it all works well together. I love this! I’m really wanting add Tudor cladding to our garage and I love the way you have all photoshopped to see it before you do it. How do I do this? I’m thinking render and Tudor cladding above the garage and rendered within the porch area. We’ve just had the garage door painted and I feel it needs something extra. a couple of houses on the street have Tudor cladding so it wouldn’t look out of place.

@Jonathan - The frames and door are nearly 25 years old, and so are coming up to being ready to be replaced (almost all other houses on the estate have moved over to uPVC). @Sven I'm not mad on the door colour. It's previously been black (a little boring) and pillar box red (which I preferred). @Man about the House, thanks for the picture. I guess I need to do some mock-ups. Are there any free/straightforward to use tools that people on here use for that sort of thing (i.e. not Photoshop). I think I see what you're saying about keeping the timber matching the bricks, but would like to see it in grey too (maybe we could paint the bricks to match?)

My first thought was that I'd aim to match your door, windows, and boards, and that the pale grey you've chosen is a good one to go for. When I thought about it a bit longer, I remembered that your house is brick, not rendered. Pale tudor boards on a white house looks great, because it's a subtle contrast. Against brick, pale tudor boards would be a huge contrast. I wonder if pale grey windows and dark grey boards would work? It would show that you've considered the whole, rather than just replacing parts piecemeal, but it wouldn't be as stark as pale grey. Here's just the windows: Here's the effect with matching boards: And here it is with medium grey boards: I took the pebble grey and darkened it a bit. I think it looks quite smart! You could go lighter still, maybe just a shade or two darker than the windows. You could also go darker so it's more similar to the current effect, but clearly harmonised.

I know a lot of people are going off the mock Tudor beams but cladding often looks as bad, have you considered painting the beams instead? they can look great in greys?

This thread asked the same question as you, and they ended up painting them instead and really liked them, take a look ;)

The issue we have is that there is rotting so it will have to all come off and be redone regardless 😭
