Advice for kitchen redecorating

I'm looking for ideas how to redecorate my kitchen in my flat. Since the photo was taken I painted over the wall paper (which is now dark grey) but I'm not convinced. I'm thinking to do a photo/gallery wall. Any recommendations?

What are the cabinets made of? Would you be able to paint over them?

If the wall is dark grey, I would paint the cabinet fronts white and replace the handles or spray the current ones gold...

It depends on your budget but you could cover the floor with some laminate floorboards...wouldn't be too expensive but make a world of difference?

The room is a great size. So we have a bit of background, how old is the house (i.e. is the existing decor suited to the age) and which direction does the window face (if it is South facing, you will get loads of natural light so could go darker with your colour scheme if you wanted. If it faces North, you might prefer lighter colours, or go darker/bolder, but make sure you have plenty of lighting accessories. And how much work are you prepared to do - could ceiling rose removal/replacement and removal of textured paint ceiling finish be on your agenda?

Hi. It's quite difficult to get wood floors to work together with different plank widths, thickness, colour, grain etc. Personally I'd go for a chevron, it will make the room feel wider and I think would work well. Choose one which has one of the tones of the kitchen floor in it. If it's in budget, I quite like the design of the built in units by Cato Creatives in your ideabook. The raised storage part (which presumably would be useful) won't make the room feel any narrower as you can see the floor beneath. You could also paint behind the shelves in a darker tone to break up the long wall and disguise the tv. If the tv fits in the left alcove I'd put it there as it looks as if it would leave room for a chair where the tv currently is with a small side table? I'd add an arc lamp behind the sofa as per 3rd pic in black and brass. Depending on sofa size is there also room for a sofa table at the end of the sofa like the 3rd pic? I'd add a large round mirror over the fire and art behind the sofa. Which way does the room face as I might just go for a white with a hint of grey on the wall? If in budget I might just go for Roman blinds as they win the visually fill the room

Hi, the plan shows you how to decorate everything. It shows where to put the furniture. The ceilings look too high and the rooms are too square so add softness and ground the space. Use oversized pictures and floor lamp and plants to play with height and texture and to ground the space.

Regarding the cabinets, you will need to clean and sand, then use a shellac primer before you proceed with any top coats. Tikkurilla do great enamels for kitchens
