Comments (8)Personally I don't think you will gain much extra space by blocking up either opening and if you were to open up the kitchen through the hatch you might get more light but you will create flooring problems. I think many people would also want to see an approximate floor plan to provide a more definitive opinion. From what I can see I think that you keep a similar layout but perhaps move the sink and hob further apart to create more work space. I think modern cabinets will help it feel more contemporary- given that it is a small space with no window I would choose a handleless kitchen with integrated appliances and have cabinets, work surfaces and splash backs in the same pale colour. Comments (24)Hi Hannah, Thank you. Yes, the more we look into this the more we realise that the scratches must have been made during fitting or transporting. We aren't very happy about it. We have also been looking at other aluminium doors for wear and have noticed no scratches even with high use, as per your showroom ones. I have also spoken to the manufacturer who agrees. It's such a shame we have had this problem. Strangely the somehow the screw ended up in the key when I found it on our patio (where the fitter had dropped it), I don't know why I didn't take it out but I put that in the window after I found the scratches. I'm not sure we have the time to look into our options now and we want the frame to match up to the loft window. The fitter tried to cover a scratch I had seen when he was there, with a paint pen but it just looks like a kid has drawn on it. Out of interested, why have you suggested anthracite? I am still inclined to go with white for a more classic look (and to stop the room closing in with the door frames?) but I'm worried about fading to yellow. Unless I can find a way to prevent this but is there a practical reason why anthracite is better? thank you...See MoreWhat would you do to this new kitchen look less retro?!
Comments (18)Yes, the view was definitely a selling point!! It’s a very special building and a dream come true for us, so it’s important for me that I don’t screw up the interior decor. ........my sleepy bedtime head is thinking about pulling the cream oven out, replacing with the copper oven, painting the bottom units black (I never usually ‘do’ black), using a dark wood countertop and finishing with antiqued mirror splash back and a copper tap. 2 years agoFashions come and go but good classic design should stay for a long time. Perhaps don't put too many 'trends' together otherwise it may date quickly. Looking at social media (which I have to for work) I have seen the recent trends of the last 10 years. Dark greys became blues became green. Creams and off whites are everywhere on instagram at the moment so it seems things have come full circle! A book like this may be worth a peruse to see what was around years ago and consider if it still looks appealing.
