Which door knobs for these cupboard doors?

Hi, can any recommend small cupboard door knobs to suit these doors? I find too much black and white a bit startling so am reluctant to get black, the same as door with black handle. I tried pewter ones but they looked a bit heavy on the doors so am returning them.

I love the original door that you have with the Bakelite fittings! Is the cupboard staying white? If it is, and if you definitely don’t want black to match, I’d maybe look at small white pot (ceramic) knobs to blend in rather than give another contrast. If the cupboard is going to be painted, maybe look again at small Bakelite knobs to match the door as the colour would reduce the contrast.

Dowsing and Reynolds/Buster and Punch/Plank do lovely small knurled knobs in different finishes including brass, pewter etc. Depends on what else you've got going on in the room and whether you like a bit of metallic gleam. Otherwise I like Sarah's idea of small white ceramic knobs, or you could get wooden ones and paint them to match the cupboard doors (then if you repaint in the future you can keep painting the knobs the same colour so they blend in).

Can't really help without a bit more insight, as Emmeline points out. Give us a little more background and we'll see what we can suggest! Remember that any choices you make wrt changing kitchen cupboard doors will be limited by the style/colour of any carcasses you want to reuse.

I find that chrome and satin go perfectly together as they are both metal colour, what wouldn't go is if you have a metal that is slightly golden or something, but I think the metal and metal go together fine! You won't even notice that you have satin knobs and a chrome tap, I promise, I have that in my kitchen. Good luck.

I think you can get a deVOL style kitchen on a smaller budget. I think the key part is design which makes them stand out so personally would speak to Karen at OnePlan on this thread. Karen can design a kitchen for you and then you can shop around for the actual kitchen to suit the budget. Unfortunately I don't think deVOL sell their accessories unless you're buying a kitchen but flooring and tiles are available from their sister company on the link. Taps are made by Perrin and Rowe (unfortunately not the aged brass as designed exclusively for deVOL). Their paint palette is very limited but some of Little Greene and F&B look quite similar or take a photo and get it colour matched at Johnstones. Normally the way the kitchen is accessorised, using a few antiques etc, stands out to me as being deVOL so would post on here for help with accessories and handles as I'm sure people will be able to help you achieve the look you want. Hi Sarah and Hedgehog, yes the cupboard doors have just been painted white and are staying that way. I couldn’t see any white knobs that I liked but will look where you suggested Hedgehog or might just paint the original wooden ones white. The other metal finishes in room are black and pewter but the pewter knobs I got don’t look right but like you say Sarah it’s probably the contrast is too much. Thanks for your feedback!

👍🏻 i have a similar cupboard in my hallway where the main doors are Victorian pine with antique brass knobs. We kept the cupboard knobs wood as Hedgehog suggested and we have painted them each time we have redecorated. It means they always blend in with whatever colour I’ve chosen and they don’t battle against the original antique knobs on the doors!

Hi Sarah, Yes, I should’ve thought of just doing that in the first place! the doors were originally wood with wooden knobs and blended in so it’ll just be a matter of painting them white to blend in with the now white door. 🙂
