Best use of L shaped garden advise please
Comments (6)Yes we are definitely keeping the window/access to the bedroom in according to the code. Thanks 'One Plan' we hadn't thought about keeping the door by the bedroom and just run it allow the whole of the side. The double doors would be a great way to keep light into the lounge especially as it is south facing as well. What do you think to bi-folding doors in the lounge or just large bay window? We want to keep it fairly Victorian with some more timely features, so leaning away from bi-folding doors but think it's such a fantastic way to open up the garden space?...See MoreL shaped living room/dining room
Comments (3)Links online? It's hard to advise with out seeing the exact colours, shapes and styles of any of the furniture or the rooms. Ideally we would also be looking at how much light the rooms gets! White is always great to pair with grey so without seeing anything I would recommend white on the walls and then a nice warm accent colour like orange or a warm rich purple or navy blue. Will be better to come back with pictures when you have some.. And we can look in more detail. :) all the best...See MoreDesign Dilemma: L-shaped living/dining room
Comments (4)Hi, its a lovely room I agree drawing out where you'd like to place your existing furniture is a good idea, then you can see how much available space you have left. If you have budget and Interior Designer would be able to create a couple of layouts for you to help you utilise the space (much more affordable than you think) The fireplace is lovely have you considered keeping it as a relaxing zone and possibly putting the TV elsewhere? I’m not sure on the full layout of you room, but could you have the TV on the wall you have taken the photo from with the L-Shaped sofa facing it. And then you could add a couple of comfy chairs either side of the fireplace with a rug in the middle (always have at least the feet of your furniture over the rug so it doesn’t look like a little island in the middle of your floor) similar to the image below....See MoreL-shaped living room in an apartment - design ideas please!
Comments (15)I’m much liking the look of that second layout suggested by Carolina - there are some very clever solutions there! The positioning of the doors is slightly awkward, but this layout creates zones that work nicely. The position of the sofa very cleverly creates a TV zone, and also defines the study area behind it. And those two orange accent chairs are lovely, forming part of the lounge zone whilst also drawing the eye to the windows and the view. And, on days when Joan and her family/visitors want to gaze at the view, they can be simply turned round. There’s just one tiny tweak i might suggest: to remove the coffee table and instead have a side table and lamp to the left of the sofa, in the corner by the door. Otherwise, if that were my room, I’d be looking at the orange chairs and the view as I walked into the room... and I’d trip over the coffee table :-)...See MoreAngela Postlethwaite
