What brand of stain is the Cashmere? Do you have to use a protectant?

I have some white oak I want to stain and I'm finding lots of conflicting information out there about stain for white oak. Thank you!

Hello @gt91 - Sherwin Williams is the vendor. This particular finish is a 2-step process. Waterborne spray stain toner is applied first. After drying, a hand-wiped stain is applied followed by a clear topcoat.

I have a lot of throws! I have two huge faux fur ones rolled up at the end of a corner sofa, where there is no back as it's the chaise part, so they work as a back rest. I also have a gorgeously soft chenille type which is light grey with feint white stars on, to pull over my legs when it gets chilly. In the bedroom I have a basket full, mostly floral to go with the room, they are great when it's too warm to get under the duvet when watching a movie in bed.

Susangirl, thank you for your understanding. It is not merely that you show some basic human sympathy and decency, though; it is that you have identified the some of the practicalities. I'd like to know what Jan Johnson thinks I should have done instead. I was very well aware of the risk of feathering the owner's nest, but because I was grateful to have any place to stay, as I have said, I worked on the house. And there is also the issue which JJ hads not picked up on, which is that we did not have any choice. The place was essentially unfirnished and in a terrible state. Should we have abandoned any hope of a decent quality of life in case we were finally mistreated? This place was our home. Should we have applied the same approach wherever we went thereafter? What kind of life is that? Not so far from the kind of life people led in the shacks and tied-cottages in pre-war WWII plantations in Louisiana, perhaps, which I'm reading about just now. The comment "Did you think to keep a diary?" is seeking to blame the victims of greed and utter lack of scruple, and indeed conceivably downright fraud. I think about many things, Jan Johnson! A diary does not cut a lot of ice evidentially. What's your point? The kind of fraud which, as the Inland Revenue told me, does not get investigated as often as it should because there is so much of it - I refer to the avoidance of CBT, which is why we were told to leave furniture items behind. So that the house looked occupied. Note too that it was an ex-council house. The owner had bought it from council tenants who had themselves bought it. That's one more affordable property removed from the system.

Hi Bry R! Choosing a kitchen worktop is a very personal choice where a couple of factors come into play. You will need to consider and prioritise: budget, look/feel, durability, usage/sensitivity. Leaving budget out for a second we reviewed your 3 materials Quartz, laminate and concrete for you: Quartz - Beautiful stone that can be used anywhere, even near the hob and sink. On the durability side, it is a very tough stone ( especially in composite form) that is more durable than many other natural stones. Also potential scratches can be sanded out if needed! Very easy to maintain. Concrete - It looks amazing. But in our opinion, a kitchen is more practical than just an aesthetic feature… but this is very personal! Concrete is more sensitive to staining of food and water. So either you need to use a food-grade sealer, get out the chopping board, or order takeaway! Concrete can also be sensitive to scratching. Last but not least given that it is heavy, you might need to rethink about your cabinetry for reinforcement. Laminate - Very flexible and can be used for all surfaces. Can also mimic any natural materials you like ( even concrete!). It is very sensitive to heat and you cannot test your vegetable cutting on it! But apart from that it is pretty resistant to stains and chemicals. Its cost even allows you to change the look of your kitchen with just changing the worktop in couple of years time, without breaking the bank. If your budget stretches it, we would advise the quartz unless you love the look of concrete and you don’t mind giving a bit more care and love to this stunning beauty in your home! Thank you for everyone's comments, had no idea this thread would prove so popular when I started it. We are plastering this week and we have finally bought most things for the kitchen. I did find some real 'finds' though if anyone is looking. Not sure where you are based, but regarding electrical goods we researched all our own and narrowed down our list, and once we had that we looked online for the best prices for each appliance. Instead of buying from lots of different places we took it to Bentalls, who not only matched, but also cost us less, and beat some online prices with a good 'deal' price they also then will hold on to them until you need them, but if anything goes wrong you have 'bentalls' rather than several online dealers to return items to. RDO Appliances also do this if there is one near you, but i'd advise you to research prices first. Another thing we found was inserts for the kitchens. Through our kitchen supplier these were expensive, bin inserts, pull out drawers, pull out larders, even the pop up sockets, sourced seperately through ebay and online we managed to save quite a lot of money by doing this, so our fitter will still have the right things on the day, but we are not getting the inserts from the supplier. What else..... erm kitchen worktop, unbelievably the exact same worktop, same material, same cut outs etc.. same sizes differed between suppliers by 3k! so do shop around for your quartz and granite.
