how would i paint or spray existing shiny white kitchen unit doors ? ?

The kitchen we have inherited is very good but all too white < the house had been let & is white white everywhere. Whilst we save to change the kitchen, with what can I paint or spray the flat shiny white doors ? ?

Can you post some photos? There might be a way of making changes that don't include such a tricky job.

I’m not sure shiny units can be painted efficiently, although I may be proved wrong! You could add colour to the walls or flooring instead which may be a bit easier.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic kitchen. So pleased you're keeping it! Formica would be the period correct work surface and can still be bought but may not fit with your budget? I would also look at having a carpenter produce your cabinets. They can be cheaper than off the shelf and would be better build. To save some money you could buy cheap plain carcasses and have a carpenter make doors to match the existing ones that you can then paint. That's what i'd do!

That meant to say French grey dark! Also what's your thoughts on the colour of skirting Is white and ceilings white French grey mid on ceiling and paint work Or fence grey light on ceiling and paint work? @Carolina thanks. Do you know how that works when you use flooring on steps? Do you build them as standard and then clad them over? I like the angled step idea, sadly our walls are badly out of square so your design kind of feeds you towards the right where as our room skews left, if you see the angle of the tiles. @Ellie there was a lot to design around. We needed a tall unit for the fridge and wanted one for the boiler housing and ovens. On the wall on the right in the picture there was only space for one tall one before you hit the steel. On the wall opposite the units on the left the height is only 1.88m high, putting any high units that side would have blocked the line of the velux openings. We could have left a gap before starting the bank of units but it would have just looked weird. Doorway is 70cm, same as most the doorways in our Victorian house. The first unit is just a standard unit for storage with shelves, the 2nd unit is the fridge but there's enough space for 2 good size steps with the door fully open.

Would spraying or vinyl wrap be better for gloss units?

Hi, I think you have probably already solved your problem by now but I thought I would give some input just in case or if other people had similar query's on interior vinyl wrapping, vinyl wrapping is viable on that surface and gloss finish provides the best adhesion out of most finishes, as for durability there are vinyls available now that we use that are specifically designed for kitchen wrapping and for high traffic areas that are very tough and hard wearing these vinyls have a 5 - 7 year manufacturer's warranty too so Vs spraying I would say that it has the upper hand, as spraying needs a lot of prep work and dust created when done to a near perfect job which wrapping does not and can be done far more efficiently. As for how much per door you'd be looking at a rough estimate of £50 per door. As mentioned earlier you have probably already found the answers to your question as this post was a while back I just thought I'd take the time to give a little insight in to kitchen wrapping. last year
I painted my shiny kitchen units using chalk paint, was going to replace all the doors so took a chance. It took ages but I love the final mat finish.
