Five New Washbasins and The Bonfire of the 'Vanities' OR upcycle?
Comments (32)Hello Ro Ro, Just a little thought here.. you can create a whole range of storage that doesn't involve having something under the sink! Or you could have a back to wall floating unit.. Small and rectangular.. It does not have to look like they do now.. Also with certain taps you do need to look at the water pressure, if you want aerated taps etc.. If your taps have a good flow I am sure you won't have a problem.. :))...See MoreWhat colour would you paint these cabinets?
Comments (40)Hi Cesca, as your kitchen is quite dark I would go for white cupboards and natural wood worktops, something like your table and chairs. This I would live without changing as I think they looks very nice. I would move the table 50cm from the kitchen cabinets and put some nice carpet just under the table and the chairs to make the space warmer and more cozy. I would paint the walls with light green and add some colourful details. White ir light grey curtains would also make your kitchen look special. If one day you decide to change the floor go for natural wood....See MoreStripped wood floor in kitchen?
Comments (22)If you have worries about maintenance then we would recommend a hard wax oil. We supply Treatex, matt or satin finish. Once applied after installation (2 coats are recommended) it will last anywhere from 5-10 years. Also, great choice of wood flooring as if you do get the odd scratch that's noticeable, simply apply the same hard wax oil onto the affected area and it will blend the colour back in. For those deeper scratches then it's as easy as using a bit of sand paper and finishing with the hard wax oil again. In terms of insulation, there are a number of underlays out there that will help, make sure it comes with a damp proof membrane. Again we supply these from a 15m2 foam roll to a rubber 10m2 roll. Both have acoustic properties and the rubber underlay comes with a tog rating of 0.55. We hope this is of some help, if you have any other questions just let us know....See MoreRemodel, Extension plans approved but quotes are way above budget-HELP
Comments (23)The biggest issue you have is timing. Anyone trying to build/remodel/extend is finding that prices are through the roof right now. Your situation is tough and no option is going to be what you originally wanted - the planned remodelling at £150k. So you’ve got to choose the next best solution or least worst option. In your shoes I would get the house habitable and move in. Yes it will cost money to do that but you’re throwing rent money away & have been for quite a while. Live in the house, get a feel for it & you might find your thoughts on the remodelling evolve. You may need to wait for a year or two for prices to steady/come down to get close to your budget or your budget might also be able to move upwards. Given the difference between your budget & the quotes (and it’s almost inevitable you’ll spend more anyway) - smallish tweaks aren’t going to bridge the gap. Why is selling not an option? It’s extreme but maybe cutting your losses may be one way out of this....See MoreHU-768402840
