Can we tell what type of metal roof this is?

Metal roof looks so beautiful! Can someone point out if it's 24GA / 26GA thick and if that matters.

Trying to get a new roof and any insight would be great!

Hello and thank you for the question, this roof is Una-Clad Kynar in Charcoal Gray, set over Tamko high temperature metal roof underlayment. This roof is 24GA and that is typical of the metal standing seam roofs that we do, going to 26GA would save some money, however, there is the risk of lowering the lifespan of the roof by using a lighter material.

When you say some other materials what do you mean. As it's a dining room I'm a little limited as to what other materials I can have. The lights are ceramic and the chairs are fabric so thought that was a contrast. I do have the living room part at the other end of the room that will have a huge comfortable couch plus a rug. I am not a fan of rugs under dining tables from a practicality /hygiene point of view. The other lights I like are these. They are metal and have holes so a little light will come out. I would either paint them white (I paint for a living and these shades are only 27 pounds each so are worth upcycling!! I would need 7 of these. Or if paint them in pastel colours and do some upholstery in the chair tops with white frames. I LOVE the white with the wood. I don't want anything too traditional. I'm going for pendants with E 27 fitting so I can have LED lights brightest that I can. Thanks for responding. Would love to Hear other comments too.

You can't have the dining table and the kitchen adjacent to each other as 5 metres is not wide enough. Hence why I moved the plan around and the positions of things to give you more space. I don't like blocking the flow front to back by putting the Utility on the right immediately. Gaining more length will also help my type of layout as i mentioned earlier. I think you have to compromise on the snug or the utility / downstairs loo area, as the house isn't wide enough for both. Since you already have a lounge and a utility / downstairs loo will add more value, i'd go for the latter. I'd go for this type of layout at 5m extended . No snug..........you don't really need it. If you want all of the above accommodated, then you'd have to go out to around 7m. You may also find difficulty with the plumbing, so, even though I put the option of the utility and toilet on the left in my previous render, i'm not sure it would work. ( it's possible ). You would end up with something like this, but also bear in mind, that due to the depth of the extension you will need a sky lantern in the roof on the left as the snug would be dark without one.

hi Fiona, I think you may be heading towards a lot of work with the suggested exposure if there roof timbers to your bungalow. there are a number of potential adress to consider before attempting this work. I will attempt to outline some of these to help you to weigh up the work involved as follows: 1)Are the timbers worth exposing, wil they look good. 2)How will you extend the dividing walls between rooms which will stop at the current ceiling and not extend into the loft. What will you do to hide electrical wiring that will no doubt be run without any consideration between joists and down partitions to switch runs. 4)Depending on the configuration of the house you may have pipes running in the ceiling, together with water storage tanks, if you have a gravity fed cold water system. you will need to consider how you will create proper fire separation between rooms that you intend exposing timbers. how will you insulate the room. with the current regulations requiring increasing levels of insulation there will be more insulation required that you home currently had, so you will probably have to insulate under the rafters, which may present challenges. The above is by no means an exhaustive list but should give you a few things to check in making the decision. Personally I would leave well alone, but if you still want to do this get a surveyor to produce a specification if the works and get some competitive quotes in from a few builders. We’ve been doing a new part the garden ( had trees removed ) this summer and we have been looking at various types of decking ... Trex and Millboard have been the most expensive both around £7000 for 52m some suppliers haven’t come back to me ( given then a month to do so ) some places like B&Q had a lovely display of a taupe one I liked but none in stock or available to order ... the result is that we are probably going with either yellow Balu hardwood ( as have that elsewhere so it least it will match ) or softwood if I can get one that’s flat . The hardwood is about £3000 and the softwood seems to be coming in about half of that. Hope that helps a bit ??
