Roof Design Advice

We are looking at starting a second storey extension on the side but the ground floor extension has been built at an angle, I am assuming this is because we are on the curve of the road.
The issue is what do we do for the roof design as i have been made aware flat roofs or dummy pitched roofs are not acceptable.
Any ideas or information would be much appreciated.
