last yearAre the paints you are mentioning exterior masonry paint? Being east facing you must get the morning sun. It also depends on the style of your house, do you have a picture? This is Dulux Masonry paint which would suit a cottage.

Ideas to improve street view of mid-terrace
Comments (2)In looking at the other houses, they have quite long lower windows - which you probably would have had in the original bay. If it's in the budget, maybe a window replacement and seeing how much more height you could get might help it sit in the street a bit better. This, along side the front door auggestions from @nancyorford, might help as the new window is quite short. Oh and the vertical blue curtain/blinds.... mmmm. Somehow they don't make a house a home. If that is too much cost right now.... try some better window treatment. Some window film in an arch shape on the window above the door, could give an interest point whilst you save up to reinstate the bay! Comments (6)Sorry, i think your details stand out but the neighbours details are a little lost although it looks really nice? Was just wondering if you’d consider painting the black bits on yours a slightly darker shade like SL dark or serpentine? Just a thought anyway, what does the rest of the street look like? Good luck anyway, i went through so many testers for mine! i’d probably paint the red bit white so you can easily test next to the neighbour. Unfortunately the builder starts on Tuesday and we have planning permission for the existing plans, but I do appreciate it (and wish I had come here earlier!) The elevated terrace would be lovely, but it's right next to our neighbours house (oddly, the largest windows look directly at the house next door). Our architect is local and doesn't really have opinions about design / aesthetics, and is more at the functional end of the spectrum, so asks what we want and then makes it work technically. Hence needing a little inspiration! I like the simple metal railings that have been shared, and the idea of colour matching to the windows, thank you! A perforated metal screen is very interesting and not something I knew existed. I did a quick google and only found very ornate or very industrial examples - has anyone seen anything like this used in a mid century context? We aren't being slaves to it, and are happy to go modern/MCM. But not a fan of an extremely severe 'industrial' look. The flooring I am completely baffled by - wood is nice but very slippery. Perhaps some sort of external tiles, so it feels like living space? Maybe to match the grey of the windows / railings, or is that too much? Thanks hugely!...See MoreFace-lift terraced property
Comments (8)Agree about widening the path. I wouldn't change the facade too much, it would look odd next to your terraced neighbours. New windows might help to lift it if necessary. Maybe some suble sandstone paving vs. irritating gravel. A tall attractive plant like a bay tree in a pot next to the front door always looks welcoming. Those bushes create great screening I would try and plant something similar at right angles to your house down your side of the boundary. I also think vertical blinds look terrible, like an office. The patterned nets are equally bad. Film is much more modern if it doesn't block to much light. It depends whether you need a windown covering for privacy....See MoreSonia
last yearYes it needs something lighter and brighter, doesn’t it? I’ve only looked at Dulux Weathershield colour chart and a lot of the colours are so dingy. I think the Jasmine White looks nice and has warmth without being too yellow, and Brilliant White can look fabulous.
