Lovely colours in this room

hi Alix Helps Interiors, is the profile of this entertainment unit the same as the kitchen cabinet profile? I love the use of it in this living room. What is the name of this product please, if you can advise?

Hi Amanda, thanks for your kind words. Yes, the profile is consistent with the kitchen cabinetry. I'm afraid I can't recommend a product as such, it was a custom design that our joiner built to our specification. The finish is Polytec Ravine Sepia Oak.

Hi Debbie. I hope it's all going well so far for you! You have some great ideas. When north light is involved I would stay clear of whites with green or blue undertones or infant, those colours. You want to enhance the warm. Try a white with a red or yellow undertone. This will easily pair with yellow so great on the rug. I would choose this white first and then when a test patch is up (or you have one on paper) I would look at a suitable green to work with it. For adding fun and to break up the block colour I would add a mural/sticker to the wall (someone like ink vinyl) they are reasonable priced and very easy not only to put on, but more importantly, to remove in a few years without leaving a mark as tastes change! :) You have a great start to the space and I look forward to seeing your ideas come together. I would say it's a warm pink but our bedroom is directly north facing so the light is really cold and that works well with this colour. I’ve just taken this photo so mid-morning on a very dull day. I love the colour in this room but I’m not sure I would like it all in in any of the south facing rooms unless it had a lot of dark grey or something similar with it. Could you paint the tester onto a big piece of paper and stick it up in the right room to get a better feel?

It depends on what else you have in the room, the sofa colours etc. It looks to be a really nice room with some lovely features. Personally, I wouldn't paint it all a blue or a dark colour as East facing rooms can be gloomy on an afternoon. Have a look on instagram, there is a total shift away from dark interiors towards more neutral warmer ones. Not that this matters, but perhaps a year of lockdown has made a difference to what people want to live with.

I would class those cushions as more of a rust as opposed to orange. Could you swap them for a definite bright orange and also have curtains that have a large proportion of orange in? Walnut has undertones of orange so l think it would work well together.
