Are these wall panels and dadorails original?
Hello, I've moved into a house with 3m high ceilings, a beautiful hallway arch, and wonderful coving and skirting boards. It also has these wall panels which I think may be 1980s additions along with the matching dadorails...but maybe they are original? I've included a photo of the original hall arch as well as another dadorail from a different room although I'm not sure how to tell if that's original either. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks ☺️

Comments (10)We were lucky enough to move into a 1930's house ten years ago which had original panelling in the hall, dining room and family room. We loved it then and have made the most of it ever since. We're currently in phase one of a large modernisation project and are keeping the panelling, changing up the colour and extending it in to enhance and complement the new open plan kitchen and dining room area. They are out of Canada and great to work with. last yearThe hallway looks original, but the dado rails and mouldings are very unusual, however the Arts & Crafts movement (same period as your home) did have some nature inspired mouldings (saw it on Flog It!) and I found these mouldings for sale with a little bit of info about them, so may be worth researching? Of course I’m no expert so they may be more recent and someone has tried to add more Arts & Craft styling.

last yearSo I hammered at a piece of this wall framing and expected this to be a plaster mould but there is STRING in it!! This makes me think its original after all 😭 Any thoughts?
