Hi, thank you for your question. These are custom window treatments made of valance and roman shade. You can purchase the fabrics and trims from my studio and have your local window treatment company make it for you. Hope this answers your question.

So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!

Hello matthuire, A nice looking place from the photos... I would say you could have shutters or blinds with tapes that can look like shutters if the thickness is 3cm or wider up to 5cm. Because you don't have a gr8 deal going on with frames and so forth, with those sash windows you can make the blinds work.. You could have a top recess fitting for wooden venetian blind with tapes by the looks of it. This would be my suggestion for something that looks like shutters but less expensive if budget is a consideration.... The windows lend themselves to the "header" (it's the boxy part that the wooden slats go into and is fixed to the top of window, in your case the top reveal?... Or you could have a gauzy sheer roman blinds and some lovely curtains.. : ))

Here's a quick sketch combining wooden slatted blinds, grey with dark tapes to match your island on the inside frame , nice Roman blinds on the outside frame to soften and warm use a cool print to keep it up to date,big soft window seat cushions feather and down for luxury with some cushions to tie it all together! The kitchen should be treated like an entertaining space and feel that with delightful cabinetry it should be finished off in a tailored,bespoke and charming way without feeling old fashioned. Japanese panels look lovely and minimal, but when it comes down to light control and flexibility they are not great. The biggest drawback is that one section of window is permanent,y covered even when fully open. Shutters and Venetian Blinds can cover all of the window but be tilted to allow light in even when they are drawn together or fully pulled down. Shutters offer even more light flexibilty due to having split panels. The louvres on on the top panel can be open letting light through, whilst the bottom section can be closed and vice versa. I had Japanese panels in my dining room for several years but installed my own shutters just before last Christmas, it's made an incredable difference. Another problem with Japanese panels is that to come accross a three metre span the track required could be too deep to fit the reveal. I'm able to open mine fully during the day too, but with a desk beneath that may not be an option without moving items on the desk
