Design Dilemma DIY Gardens

Garden Design Ideas needed

Hi,I have a North Facing Garden. I would like some design ideas on how to make it cosy for us adults as well as toddler-friendly for my 2 kids.
A nice firepit with a sitting area for the adults would be also ideal for the cold shady days.
Please see the picture, share your ideas on what best to do with it.Thank you.

I would say absolutely get any hard landscaping, large shrubs or trees and garden building such as shed, done before the building work starts. The configuration of our house means we have no direct access to the back garden, so everything has to come through the kitchen. This wasn't a problem before we had the kitchen done, as it was all a bit rough and ready in there. But even so in the past we've had to manhandle a shed over the flat kitchen roof and had to beg access to a neighbour's paddock to lift slabs & a cement mixer over the garden wall. We had some further hard landscaping done when they laid the new drains for the kitchen, along with a couple of trees taken down - which all went through the kitchen before it was done. But the garden is done now and the only things that go through the kitchen now is bagged grass clippings and a bit of bagged garden waste.

Adding a firepit is a great idea as it creates a cozy and relaxing space and also extends the time that you can use your seating area for (as it brings in light and warmth). Hi there, Will the bbq and sitting area be in the decking or would you like somewhere in the shade at the bottom of the garden for it? Do you prefer a more formal or informal style? Curves or straight lines? You could create some beds parallel to the house to break up the space and use it for vegetable patch with some ornamentals to keep the structure and also the herbs.
