Help me choose a houseplant please

Hi all, I'm after ideas and recommendations for a houseplant for this spot in my new kitchen please. The room is south west facing so gets very bright and very hot. But in this exact spot the plant wouldn't get direct light as tucked behind the bit of wall. Would like something big and dramatic to sit on floor.

11 months agoI've got a weeping fig on the floor of my kitchen/diner. They do well away from direct sunlight.

Comments (18)The colour of the wall paint will depend on the amount and direction of the sunlight and will change when the artificial light is on and even on a different wall of the same room. I’d go for a cooler greyer tones. However be aware some greys can look greener with different lighting. Choose some samples, paint them on a large piece of paper and hang them in different walls of the room, look at them during the day and evening. You might find out that you like whites and greys with yellow and red undertones more. The blue pieces are very nice and will go very well with your light brown sofa It’s a very nice rug. I like the Middle Eastern style. Comments (4)You are quite right, it is the tone that needs to be similar, for example in the bedroom pic above the carpet is a lot lighter than the wall behind the bed, but much the same as the side walls. It works because they are just a similar colour, but lighter and darker. The herringbone stair carpet is darker, yes a similar tone. It just works. Hope that makes sense!
