Help me pick a colour

Hello! Painted our cellar space with Lulworth Blue and I’m trying to decide on a colour for the stairs and hand rail and skirting board…
I thought about red (fun) or dark blue (a bit classier, I suppose…)
Would love your thoughts/ideas please :)

Help with picking a grey paint color
Comments (7)if you are looking for a crisp, clean grey, I would stay away from Farrow and Ball, their light greys all tend to have a muddy look, which is fab if you want vintage look. If you are looking for high end paint, little greene colours are definitely more clean and crisp than F&B but a lower price alternative would be Laura Ashley, I used their pale dove grey and it was very fresh and clean (really pale though, not sure if that is what you are looking for). You will probably read some bad things about LA paint but my experience of it was fine, looked like any other paint when it was done! Comments (15)Well what a coincident! Visited a friend yesterday who is having her hallway, stairs and landing painted on Monday and wanted my advice (!). She has chosen a Karndean style herringbone floor for her hall and a soft check stair carpet in a warm caramel colour. Staircase is oak and glass. Not much natural light in the hall. We looked through loads of paint charts but she didn’t want the expense of F&B or Little G. Then we both felt Dulux Caramel Latte or Caramel Blush would look good. She later bought some matchpots and loves both shades, so she’s having the Latte on one wall and the Blush on the rest. Comments (8)Skimming Stone is Farrow and Ball. Personally I prefer Little Greene paint as the quality is slightly better. They also do a bigger range of useful neutrals that come in varied strengths. Farrow and Ball do a book called 'How to Decorate' which groups neutrals into distinct groups that have associations. For example, 'Traditional Neutrals', Red Based Neutrals and Yellow Based Neutrals are relatively warm and are typically are associated with more traditional homes (think Cotwolds). Contemporary, Easy and Architectural neutrals have been more popular in recent years and are a bit cooler. Interestingly, if you go onto the F&B facebook page, Joa Studholme has done a tour of her home which includes all the colours she has used. Her large lounge is School House White and is much more traditional than I would have expected. Farrow and Ball paint can be replicated by Johnsons I believe, not Dulux. I would do this as I think Johnsons' quality is preferred by painters....See More

7 months agoI would also get rid of the stripes. All one colour on the walls is a lot more stylish. The blue is gorgeous.
