Soundproofing internal SVP

What's the best way of soundproofing an internal SVP? Would be grateful for any recommendations based on people's experiences.

internal bi folds are a great way of creating a draftproof / soundproof room division. they can be fully open in the warmer months and closed during the winter period. if you would rather have a flush threshold so when they are open you have a continuous floor level then that is possible also. http://www.timberbifold.co.uk

Soundproofing a wall is not as simple as it appears, there are several methods, the cheapest (but not the best soundproofing solution) being double soundproof plasterboard (soundbloc for example) with GreenGlue and then skimmed. Ask a builder for the costs as again there are lots of variables but I would expect <£1,000 for a 27 foot long internal wall at 10 foot high, hope this helps, Mike

I think solid hinged doors will be sturdy and a bit more soundproof than the current ones. I'd aim for a design that you can open all the way whenever you want to have the two rooms connected.

creating a bedroom using an Internal wall

Hi everyone. Thanks for your comments. I cannot afford a loft conversion and the roof is a hip end which would require turning it into a gable end and needing a dormer but I may be able to afford to build on top of the kitchen extension. The room would be very small though. The creation of the aforementioned corridor gives me an extra wall that I can put furniture against as I have downsized from a 5 bed to 2.5 bed. It won't be a dark room as it has double french doors and there is another window space which is currently a double doorway leading into the kitchen. I prefer the living room at the front of the house. The light is better and there is a nicer fieplace and it is cosy. If I was going to sell, the new bedroom would be marketed as a dining room.
