Hi my living room is long narrow and dark esp in winter.It is qlso dominated with 3 huge sofas, I do not want to get rid of all of them. Photos attached any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks minnie101. I would say the room is narrow'ish but not too long.. I love the facing each other sofa arrangement. However, we want to use this room more like a media room, cosy evening room to watch tv or a film at the weekend, so sofas facing each other don't think will work for the purpose of this room. On the wall opposite the sofa we have put floating cabinets and the tv, this wall will be the feature wall, with some colour that will complement the decoration, cushions, rug, art, etc. I've added a photo, it's a bit dark but it gives you the idea. I always liked the idea of having different pieces of furniture that complement each other, it's just finding the right piece. But I shall keep looking!

Hi Claire, You have a lovely space to work with and it’s great to hear that you’re up for doing a bit of DIY! In regards to the coffee table, go for it! It’s a lovely design and will complement the characteristics of the room perfectly. I’d dress the table with a gorgeous green plant - not only will this add vibrant colour, but also adds life to your space and is guaranteed to make you smile. As suggested by Minnie, a floor standing plant situated underneath your fitted wall shelves will add a feature to this corner of your room. If you fancy doing a little bit of painting, why not head to your nearest charity shop and find a sweet side table to place to the left of your sofa or either side of your armchair? Choose your favourite Dulux paint colour (in a Satinwood finish) and paint your table to add a personalised touch to your space! This will create such a lovely statement as you enter the room, especially if you choose a beautiful blue to create that coastal look. I think I would try the tv where I said and have a large plant in the other alcove. I can't work out what's next to the sofa but would have a side table and lamp. I'm not sure of your budget so have just found these curtains and have guessed re cushion design based on what you have in the room. You could add a mauve and green plaid throw with this. Do they do coordinating pictures with the stag? As you sofa is quite a dominant colour in the room, we would suggest toning it down with neutral feature wallpaper (https://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-geometric-ii/wallpaper-105/6026/) see below image An eye catching mirror such as this one from Graham and green should be placed above the sofa. I would lose the armchair and then push the big sofa along in that direction. Then pull the 2seater away from the wall a bit. I can’t see your curtains properly but maybe add a little more of the red for cushions, pair these with textured ones and add a throw over the arm of the sofa. A rug would help although size may be tricky, if it is maybe a carpet remnant and have the edges whipped. I’d add a vase of stems on the table, preserved or good faux. Perhaps a floor lamp opposite the entrance door

The room could probably also do with more art

Are they speakers in the alcoves?

Thank u @minnie101 . They are indeed speakers. I am trying to sell the armchair but that leaves me with v less seating. Agree with adding cushions. Will do that. Thanks for the ideas. I particularly want to dress up the blank wall. A concole table and art but am confused about how big , where, full wall etc Any direction will help

It depends on how wide the doorway is as you don’t want to block the walkway. Centre the console to the curtains.

I’d guess something this size, art around 2/3 width of the console.

mask the dimensions out on the floor with low tack masking tape or towels etc

It’s only losing one seat, potentially you could have a small accent chair in the corner by the speaker on the left facing the big sofa to make it look more of a social room. Again I’d mask it out first though
