Water pressure for MULTIPLE rain showers

Hi there - for a 4-shower house what would the water pressure need to be for all rain showers to be functioning at the same time or would this be impossible? (while the dishwasher and washing machine are also on for example).

Grateful for any advice!

It’s normal to apply diversity to these things and not assume that everything is running full blast all at the time. If I was looking to run four showers at the same time then I would consider power showers (it would be important to keep in mind the electrical load as well with this solution) or a large hot water tank or two+ combi boilers. You could also go down the hotel style pressurised tank and pump route. It depends to a great extent on what system you have at the moment and how much you are prepared to change it.

I worked on a huge house with several floors and 7 showers that could be used at the same time .

2500 litre header tank in the loft ( steel supported to the foundation ).

Each floor had its own hot water tanks , actually 2 on the second floor .

All pressurised and balanced systems .

I worked with the plumbers ( electrician ) on it .

Not the nightmare you might think , just a massively expensive project .

Free standing baths are only suitable for larger rooms where you have the ability to position the bath with free access all the way round, I regularly remove them from smaller bathrooms when doing re-fits, people like the aesthetics of the free standing bath and plough ahead and install them against a wall, the result is a disgusting accumulation of dust, fluff, pubic hair etc, this will happen quite quickly and you will regret having gone down this route. The concept of having the bath with no curtain is interesting though, in a bathroom around 2.1m square, most of the bathroom will be effected by splashing, the room will need a wet room floor former, and will require that the whole room is tanked prior to tiling, have a look at. (http://www.wetroominnovations.com) I usually use their Maxus formers and Purus gully traps. you can indeed get a flexible waste connection, have a look at McAlpine "Flexcon" range, these are available through any reputable merchants, these are quite substantial and would stand up to semi regular movement, if your free standing bath is an acrylic bath it won't be too heavy, so moving it would be quite straight forward, but I would suggest having small felt pads on the feet to protect the tiled surface, also from a drying point of view, Karcher have a very good little gadget for cleaning windows, which vacuums up the water, I often mention it to clients and any who have bought one have been delighted at how easy it is to use, it will leave the floor almost dry once you have used it, one note of caution would be your choice of floor tile, you will need a porcelain tile that has an R rating, this is a slip resistant rating and would be most advised. another note of caution, because the splashing will not be controlled, any vanity or wood based furniture will deteriorate. This bathroom has a large walk in shower facing the side end of a freestanding bath. You could do something similar but smaller, with a fixed glass screen to the shower. Or a more contained number with the shower built into a hob and the shower with a tray and full glass screens and hinged door. I'm a fan of the open shower to the bath. I like to have a rain shower and a hand shower for showering and also a quick clean around the freestanding bath. But maybe you don't want to waterproof all the walls or hate splashes in the bath. Then I'd go for the more structured option. And the idea to move the bath along to the right sounds good. And loo in the right corner. Then of course use a contained shower. :)

If a sink can go there, a shower should be able to go there too, no? What reasons did he have? If for built-in handles I understand, but with a regular shower tap+hose, what's not possible? What about adjecent rooms? Any area about 100cm wide x80cm deep you could miss? We've managed to fit a toilet into our bathroom by removing a cupboard in our landing. Besides that, a 83cm door is wide enough (standard size in our whole house). Note: reserve 85cm width for your toilet. A walk in shower needs to be about 120-150cm long, why would you want such a long glass enclosure in a small space like that? That's valuable floorspace you've got to balance out! ;) So this could work, but I think is not a good idea:

The rainfall showers are not powerful, instead they give a gentle spray of water, like washing your hair in gentle rain. I have a rainfall shower with 3 settings: the rainfall setting, the standard setting which gives a more intense jet and 3-jet massager. I suggest you find a bathroom showroom that allows you to try out the different jets, so you can decide which suits best.

We have a 4 bar system and have 3 showers which have operated together while the dishwasher and washing machine was going with no problems. We did this installation which included redoing all the plumbing including new bathrooms as our old plumbing would not have worked with a pressurized system.
