Plastic edging on tiles braking

The edging trim on my kitchen tiles are perishing. Obviously o don't want to get rid of the tiles to fix them. I'm looking for something that will fit in-between the gab. I've tried by cutting some trim to make it fit but not had much luck. Any ideas on an easy fix.

Tile trim often sits partially behind the tiles and to the side giving a clean finish. Can you share a photo as difficult to advise without seeing the issue?

Hi Jane What a shame, no professional tiler would usually stick a trim over the top of the finished tiles. A good tiler should be able to mitre the edges of the tiles to create a seamless look. An alternative would be to overlap one tile over the other and polish the edge smooth but this only really looks good if the tile is a full colour bodied porcelain (same colour all the way through). As you can see from the pictures a mitred corner is by far a more superior finish that using trim. At the end of the day if he hasn't done what you asked him to do he was either being very lazy or can't achieve the finish required but if you aren't happy you should certainly ask for it to be changed, it's YOUR bathroom! Thanks again for all your comments. Particularly helpful to be alerted to socket issue. I took these pics before the builder replaced the sockets with some nice chrome ones. (see new pics) However, he's still got them in the wrong place. Will raise that today. He hasn't actually finished the hood area in these pictures - as I stopped him. But also the chimney extractor doesn't seem to be functioning so it needs to come down anyway. This solves this problem and we can tile behind it - although I'm still worried that he's not going to be able to redo the job well enough. I've added some more pics with better light. Still finishing the floor and just have to adjust and tweak a few things but (apart from tiling) nearly there! The kitchen is Howdens Burford Grey, Pure White Quartz from Master Quartz (not been impressed with this as marking so easily with pans, belt buckles, any kind of grime - but probably shouldn't have chosen white! - anyone else had problems with their quartz?), Paint mainly F&B Wimborne White and Slipper Satin woodwork, engineered oak floor from Howdens.

I absolutely hate those trim pieces. When you are spending hundreds or thousands on tile to do a project and then finish it with these trim products it looks cheap and tacky. Plus when you are using a classic or vintage tile those shiny metal pieces or worse the cheap white plastic doesn't match. Just ruins the whole thing. I suspect builders like this kind of trim because it fast and easy to use and covers a multitude of sins. You don't have to be a particularly skilled tiler. Nor do you have to do any special cuts.

I've worked with a stonemason on a building in Hampshire. He's base in Portsmouth, name is Rowan Adams and his company is Rowan A Adams Masonry Limited. He has virtually no web presence & unfortunately I can't put my hand on any contact details but if you Google the company you should be able to find an address. Whether he's too far away I'm not too sure. But I suppose he may be able to point you in the direction of someone who's a bit nearer. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Tile suppliers sell quite a range of tile edgings, so I would take a piece of your edging strip to somewhere like Topps Tiles or any other tile store and see if they can help. Even DIY stores like B&Q sell tile edging strips.
