Would definitely recommend the chair

I came across this website while looking for a couple of chairs to complement my modern living room. They offer a Sidbury Armchair with amazing quality . It is expensive but it is well worth the price. The chairs took longer than expected to arrive. Otherwise, Weilai Concept offers the best customer service. I would definitely recommend it.

Just saying what I would do, but I know your budget is small, so maybe it's not possible. I would measure the spaces next to the fireplace (take baseboard into consideration) and see if you can find bookcases, with doors on the bottom halves that will fit snugly in there. Look at Billy for example. That will give you storage out of sight and display possibilities and will give a much calmer look than the colourful storage boxes you have now. I think you can use your mirror in the hall. Maybe look for a rug for the living room.

Minnie, thanks so much- I think that's a great idea re wallpapering the stairwall. Am going to look into pricing that. Also love the console table with books on bottom. My husband loves the ceiling to floor window in landing, so, although I loved your idea re upholstered bench, he unfortunately is adamant he doesn't want anything there! Misha, thank you so much for all your lovely ideas .. That idea re the tree mural is very interesting- could you recommend anywhere I could get a nice one like the one in your picture? It's also a more budget friendly option, if it comes to it.... Re colour schemes, I was thinking of a dash of anything warm, i.e. Reds/ greens/ warm neutrals, and I would tend to veer away from blues and yellows personally... I need also to figure out which would be best in terms of our picture display, as, unlike your photo, they are all of different sizes and frames!!

I agree - if your considering various greys, the Arenastone Engineered Quartz is defiantly worth checking out too. They have lots to choose from including the new Concreto range which comes in a matte finish. The colours in the picture attached are Grigio Serena (far left, available in a polished finish), Grigio Concreto (middle) and Scuro Concreto (far right).

For the time that you will take trying to get Zinsser to stick to something ( it paints like water ), I'd highly recommend just giving it a very light sand, wash it down, leave it to dry and as it's a chair just for you and not 'commercial quality', I would paint two coats of Dulux Trade Diamond Satinwood straight on to it. It will stick and the quality of the paint is super. If it were my chair, that's what i'd be doing. There's a knack to painting chairs, I know, i must have painted literally hundreds in my time. Turn it over, stick it on a flat surface upside down. Paint the legs, and the supports underneath. Paint under the top of the back as you won't be able to see it when you turn it up the right way. Turn it over. Paint the bits of the bottom ( supports for legs if there were any, that you couldn't see when you had it upside down. Paint the seat. Paint the back Paint the top of the back last, as it's the last bit to hold whilst painting the rest of it. Please take note of the temperature stated on the can that the paint likes to be at. Especially important when using Dulux Satinwood. Not to hot, not to cold. Only use a new synthetic brush. If it starts to clog, wash it, dry it, then start again. Don't worry if it looks a little like it has lines in it, when it drys it smooths out.
