Renovating Kitchens

What brand is this kitchen?

I need to spruce my kitchen up but cannot find a brand label anywhere on it and it doesn't seem to match any of the IKEA ones. It was here when we moved in in 2017. Here are some pictures of it. Any ideas of how to identify it?

I inherited something similar at our last house. I think it is Ikea but discontinued. Those drawer runners could be from the Nobilia german kitchen family. They do drawer runners like that. How are you planning to spruce it up?

Fairy is a must. But I buy the commercial Fairy Professional one which cleans in a fifth of the time. I whole heartedly agree with Miele. I regard Staub much higher than Le Creuset myself. E. Dehillerin and Mauviel for cookware and future heirlooms really. David Austin for roses. Felco for secateurs. For most things a bit of research really turns up the best products, some that you will never known existed that will become a staple in your life that you will use and use again.

Just to weigh in on the Howdens comments, the key is to make sure you know someone in the trade who can put you forward to them, that way you just get dealt with as a trade using their account. They do have sales on but generally speaking the price doesn't fluctuate much through the year, except when they have their big sale on which is usually October time. I do use Howdens and no, they're not perfect but most of the grumbles I hear are more to with customer service which don't fall in line with the glossy showroom kitchen providers. The quality of the kitchens is very good (25 year warranty iirc) so if you have access to them then do get a quote from them. I think what I would say is that if you go to Howdens, expect a slightly tradesman type relationship (the showrooms are far from impressive) but a key thing is that they hold stock on most items. If you get a damaged door for example, it can be replaced next day, try getting that out of Homebase....... With regard to appliances, we have SMEG in our kitchen and I'd never buy it again. Hobbs been fine, but three new ovens on warranty and whilst it now works fine, the previous two didn't. Previously we had Bosch for everything and it all worked faultlessly, so I can't recommend them enough.

Ok so all the windows and doors that area shown are existing and you can't change them? This helps. You still have plenty of options. You could create a bank of wall units against the wall to the stairs and have a really large island unit parallel to that with the dining table next to the sliding doors, again parallel. If there's not quite enough depth in the room then you could have an island unit that is kitchen units to one side and is actually a bench to the dining table to the other side. This would mean no breakfast bar, but might make better use of the space. Having plenty of space to move around is also important. I would usually have a bigger width between worktops in a galley type kitchen (even where one half of the galley layout is an island). 1100-1200mm is a more comfortable depth than 900mm, especially if there is going to be more than 1 person using it. Or if I'm suggesting it is the route between the stairs and the door. One thing to note - you should check building regs regarding fire escape requirements if you're changing your layout to make the escape route from the upper floors come down the stairs via this open plan room containing your kitchen. Kitchens are a fire hazard area, so you will definitely need to make sure you have adequate smoke detection but you may also need to take other measures, depending on the full picture of the escape requirements. For example you might need to fit a sprinkler system. I can't advise you on this because I don't know enough about the rest of the house, but I suggest you check this before you carry out the work. You don't want to be putting you and your family's life at risk in the event of a fire. As an alternative, although additional cost, alteration you could turn your stair so that it ends in the hall (depending on head-height) - remove the issue of escape through the kitchen, and this would also create more space in the bay window, which looks like a lovely space to add a couple of chairs and a small coffee table, or the dining table. Ooh I will check that out, thank you Isla! We can't afford to do a whole new one I think but I thought I would look into getting new fronts at least. I just want to start looking at options because honestly the whole kitchen is so shabby, I don't know how we would sell the place when we need to!

If you’re looking to replace just the frontals then look for a kitchen company who offer made to measure sizes. You don’t need to have the same brand because any of them will fit to the carcase as the supplier will order them in without hinge hole drillings and then put them in for you in exactly the same position.
