Victorian terrace..plain hallway tiles

I am looking to tile the hallway of my Victorian terraced house, and although traditional tiles are beautiful, I am considering something more neutral, yet still tiled. Does anybody have any good examples to share for inspiration??
One option I am thinking of is having a natural cream/light colour stone tile in my kitchen, do you think this would work in the hallway too so that it flows? I can't seem to find anything similar for reference..

The only thing with very pale flooring is it will show every mark and spec of dirt. My sister has pale white and taupe tiles in her hall and she regrets it as it shows up the dirt, despite having a large mat at the door. Depends if cleaning the floor daily would be an effort or not. Here’s a few examples I found on pale hall flooring.

Oh thank you so much!! The photo with the green door is exactly the type of tile I had in mind :) Great point about showing marks easily.. I have a toddler so need to think this one through! Thanks again!!

Wow what a beautiful house !! That red carpet is soaking up all the light, once that's gone it will make a huge difference. Maybe then paint the stairs white or an old white, or a light coloured carpet. I would keep the Lincrusta, unless you dislike it, it adds period drama and texture, and again paint it off white. Wickes have a surprisingly interesting range of colours too, cheaper than F&B. The curtain probably stops a draught, I would get a huge white vintage French linen sheet, £60ish on eBay, and possibly line and interline it. After all that if it still seems dark, you may consider painting the wood panelling, shame but it could look great ! Also paint the lower banisters the same as the rest !

This looks really great, and I'm particularly interested as we have a similar hall with an artificially narrow entrance (1950s conversion of an 1880s house!) which carries round in an L shape all the way to the back of the flat. We also have the sloping understairs ceiling and the height makes it dark and cold. We've thought of dropping the ceiling and having spotlights as you've done, but it's the floor we're most uncertain about. Our tiles are older than yours and in very poor condition, plus very cold underfoot, so we're still undecided whether to cover up entirely (carpet? engineered wood?), saving the floor for future inhabitants, or actually (eek) taking it up. The majority of the tiled floor is in the communal hallway, so it's still there for people to enjoy. Anyway, sorry - just wanted to say also I love your colour scheme and the panelling isn't something I would have considered but it looks fantastic and we have very similar panelled doors, so I think we should consider it.

I love my dado rails. I have picture rails in all rooms but dado rails in the hallways as I find it really breaks up the room and my toddler uses them to wipe his sticky fingers on, rather than the walls. I think your rail may be a little high though, like ours were and we also had 'dado rail art' at the top of the stairs. Took plastering to fix. It's really nice having pictures up the stairs which I haven't got around to as I don't have picture rails and drills make me worry our ancient plaster will crumble...so wonder if picture rails could have helped with that. Just a couple of thoughts!

Another idea is wood effect porcelain tiles, so look like wood but tough and easy to clean. Porcelain is a great option as it comes in so many finishes. LVT is another option. Good luck with your search.

Believe it or not the floor below is porcelain.

Hi! Great minds... I actually have some samples of something very similar, I just wasn't 100% what it would look like where it would join my hardwood flooring in the living room. It looks so lovely though, so definitely an option! Thank you!
