display dilemma
Comments (10)Hi Michelle, I'd go for the lamp option as even with your white walls its quite dark. We have a few options for you to look at here if that helps: http://www.thebulbco.com/led-interior-lighting/table-lamps Or just a thought (sorry if you don't like the idea as know its not what you have asked!) but how about moving the display shelf to another area in your house and having this as a reading area, you could put some lights on the wall and put a nice chair under the stairs as can see from the books on your display shelf that you like reading?...See MoreDo you keep your toiletries on display?
Comments (24)I have cupboards under and next to the basin so there is lots of out of sight space for spares. I do keep what I need daily on the surface next to the basin but they are in glasses in a colour that goes with the room and I've arranged them slightly artily so they look considered, not haphazard. That's my view - people who visit my house might think differently! Thinking about it, many of my friends keep everything hidden. When I had my loft converted in my previous home, the architect gave me a very pretty bag to take all my daily stuff in and out of the bathroom - the message was, keep them out of sight. Only remembered that right now. I think I'll have to rethink my routines!...See MoreMoving a stair case
Comments (18)I think that back bedroom would end up being too small the second way. As it would probably be about 5'8 at the narrowest end. The house is worth more with private access for both bedrooms as stated. Check with an estate agent. Just go with the landing on the left and leave the staircase. Save the pennies for something that will also add value, and that is, taking down the wall that divides the kitchen, getting rid of the downstairs loo ( unnecessary in a two up two down ) Open up the kitchen, put french doors in from the dining room to the kitchen so that you can have them open and see the whole length out to the garden if you want, , bi-folds out to the garden etc...See MoreThe unusual case of the sofa that’s TOO SMALL!
Comments (17)Hi, I don’t think it’s too small either! If you reposition your rug so it’s slightly under all the legs of the sofa (not just the chaise part) and put a coffee table on it you’ll probably find it has more focus and purpose. A larger rug would be good, but I think this will work if your budget doesn’t stretch.. also move your dining table further away from the walls so it isn’t tucked away in the corner. Other things like a nice throw over the arm of the sofa, low hung prints on the wall behind and plants will also help. Also, is that a bar trolley next to the dining table?? If so, get it stocked up so it’s more of a social area x...See More- last year
