Comments (4)That made me smile and is so true OnePlan. Personally I always go for a kitchen diner for the same reasons as Jaimie but also because the sense of space is so much more relaxing to work in as well. Choose a good classic design and colour for the kitchen units so that you can zone the dining area in complimentary colour if you want to....See MoreWould you put an island in this space
Comments (5)I guess the budget answer is as little as we can get away with but am guessing somewhere between £25k and £355k for everything. Does that sound enough? I guess the largest amount of money will be spent on the kitchen. We moved in beginning of December and so far we have replaced all the windows, removed water tank from loft and immersion heater from airing cupboard and have had an unvented system installed (think that is what it is called). We have also had the back end of our double length garage converted to a study/sewing room. Bathrooms are booked in for May, finalising the plans for those in a week. The kitchen is the big one though. Then it will be installation of new gas fire to replace the electric one in the sitting room, new flooring, hopefully new bannister, flooring, carpet, decorating and plantation shutters throughout. Then the garden!...See MoreAlternative floor plans
Comments (8)I was trying to be too economical. So……how about still closing up the door from hall to dining room and move the cloakroom into the hall, maybe under the stairs wherever they are, (Have you seen the spacesaver w.c.’s that have a basin in the top?) then combine kitchen and dining room. if you had floor to ceiling cupboards on the wall against the hall that would give loads of storage. You could add units with worktops where you now have access to the cloakroom, with a wide window above. Outside you could have a lovely veranda with glass roof right across. I want one. You may not have room for a permanent island unit but one with castors (from Ikea) would give extra work surface and could be moved anywhere, i side or out. OR at the very least put a washingmachine with dryer over it in the existing cloakroom and a small corner w.c. with basin over. i can imagine this is stressing you but it’s also an exciting project. Good luck....See MoreNick Corcoran
