Lommarp Green/Blue Colour Match?

Hi all!

Has anyone managed to find a paint colour match (any brand, though I am UK based!) for the IKEA Lommarp range in dark blue/green? I have been searching everywhere and cannot seem to find out if anyone already has? How can I go about finding a colour match for a piece of furniture? Am I allowed to just bring in a shelf of it or something and can they find the colour by scanning it or something? I've attached a link to an example of the lommarp cabinet. Thanks everyone!

Just take your shelf or door front to B&Q and they’ll scan it and give you a choice of paint finishes, matt, satin and so on. It’ll be as close a match as they can give but I would recommend asking for it to be mixed twice by the machine to ensure the colour is even all the way through.

Yes you can scan a shelf and get a colour match. B&Q do it. I colour matched my new wardrobes at B&Q and they colour matched with Valspar paint and it was a perfect match. I checked Valspar website and they still do it at B&Q. Of course there may be other places that do colour matching.

Hi guys, Thanks both for the comments - I should have been clearer - the cornice (and above the picture rail) are already painted in slaked lime... they were a very big job and am definitely not doing them again - I used the same colour as the walls and ceiling as whilst they're lovely, they have some areas where they're not in great condition so needed them to blend in slightly (they've had quite a bit of repair work etc!). The grey we've chosen for the kitchen (though not painted yet so up for debate!) is 'dash of soot' with the 'dock blue' on the island. I think painting the doors and skirting could look good painted in the same blue... but I'm not sure I could do the windows as well - we're getting into seriously dark territory then!! Minnie - I love that picture - and it shows how the pale and the blue could look lovely together on a wall! We're definitely going brass for handles and knobs so will check out buster and punch - thanks for the tip! And it's interesting what you say about the kitchen cabinet colours AJ.... the indigo blue would be on the island - with the wall cupboards (which dont have a gap for the worktop - but the top cabinets are set back a little showing an oak worktop - with appliance garage etc) going up very tall - to 255cm.... we thought having these a paler colour would stop them closing in on the room - and I'm not sure we're keen on a paler blue - but nor did we want a cream/beige - like a darker version of the slaked lime might look... It's so tricky to know if we're doing the right thing! And are doing the work ourselves so aren't keen on having to do too much more of the painting than we need to! Cheers Greg

If deep grey really appeals to you then go for it! The beauty of paint is that you can always change your mind, it may be a bit time consuming but it's relatively inexpensive (compared to picking the wrong sofa or kitchen cabinets :0) I have a Pinterest board called 'The dark side' with hundreds of images of interiors that I find incredibly attractive (think Abigail Ahern) but some people would probably think were blacker than the inside of a camel and avoid like the plague :D I currently live in a small Georgian terrace with low ceilings and little natural light so most of them aren't an option (unless you really don't mind bumping into things) but I have painted two walls in my bedroom (which is much larger/higher for some reason) in a deep steel grey and I love it, I only wish I hadn't lost courage and painted the other two in a pale white/grey. What color goes with F &B Hague Blue in matching room?

Hague blue can look good with a variety of colours: dusky pink like Setting Plaster, or a type of India yellow for example. However it depends on how much colour you would like to have. You can introduce these other colours using furnishings rather than paint colours and stick to a neutral like Dimity for the walls. On the other hand if you like the drama of the blue and want to achieve a flow throughout the l-shaped space, then continue with the Hague blue. The walls are blue but one is almost entirely filled with a wardrobe, bookcases etc which are white, so is the ceiling. I think you’re right about keeping the window treatment quite simple because then we could always change the accent colour. Thank you for your help, you’ve helped clarify my thinking, much appreciated.
