Trying to come up with best advice on building a bathroom for a person in a wheelchair

I would be looking for something like a wetroom area, that can be used with wheel chair access, if you are going to be looking for a floor former i would recommend using a GRP Deck (Glass Reinforced Plastic) on this type wetroom deck either vinyl or tiles can be used.

Having a wetroom area really does assist with moving around and accessibility, you can get glass screens that pivot 180 degrees back to the wall that create a cubicle and when you have finished using the area it allows for drying and easy exiting.

Using glass screens also allow the room to look larger than it is with shower curtain etc.

Something like this could work but it's not ideal, assuming you can tuck the pipes inside the wall without building up. Cleaning after shower will be inevitable, but a squeegee could do the trick. The bath tub is a 1500x700 - it doesnt have to be free standing though For products try victorian plumbing, good place for products and some inspiration

I got a custom built floor to ceiling cupboard which has a toothbrush charging point inside. I had been looking for bathroom cabinets which were deep enough to take a loo roll but they didn't seem to exist. I'd been planning to wall mount them, starting from the ceiling, so they were clear of the floor. We put marine ply at the bottom in case I get a flood as the whole was made of painted mdf. Remember you can adapt kitchen carcasses too and if the front of the cupboard doesn't match, consider a mirrored door, which will also give more light to your bathroom as well as incorporate a mirror.

Hello, As option 1 have you ever thought about creating the 2nd bathroom on the ground floor? If the wall between the toilet and the kitchen isn`t load bearing you could break through the wall and create a bathroom + a laundry next to it. In this case the kitchen would move to the back of the house as you mentioned, and the existing dining area will be the new kitchen with an island. Great idea to cut an opening between the dining and conservatory and to use that space as the new dining room. Option 2: In case you don`t want the second bathroom downstairs, maybe you can sacrifice a part of the loft area on the 2nd floor and create there an en-suite. Of course, this depends on the angle of the roof and the inner height of the room. The wall between the sleeping area and the new bathroom can be a partial wall (1,2-1,4 meter high), or a frosted glass panel or any room divider.
