What's your dream kitchen style?
Comments (59)I saw this kitchen in a magazine recently and finally found it here on Houzz. Love the bold colors and open airy feel to the whole house- this would be my dream kitchen (house) if I had the $$$ to redesign or build from scratch. There are more pictures of the actual the kitchen in the magazine...but not on here sadly....See MoreHelp! Colour Scheme for Industrial Style Kitchen
Comments (9)Hello You are at the planning stages of your design, how exciting. Industrial is such a great look, when we design this type of scheme for our clients we like to mix industrial elements with period style. So crittal windows with Victorian style floor tiles. Or industrial light fittings mixed with squishy unpholstery pieces such as sofas and armchairs. This will help soften the overall aesthetic, which as you suggest can be hard if not balanced with softer elements. Take a look at some of our interiors projects for inspiration. Mixing period detailing and styles from different eras such as mid century, Scandinavean and 70's with classic industrial elements such as exposed bricks, metal detailing will give you a more interesting and original take on this style. Good luck with you project, Clare...See MoreWhat style of kitchen?
Comments (28)Sorry eehchristie, my computer did not seem to accept your email address for some reason known to itself only! Yes, I agree spend more time in kitchen than dining, but don't want another set of french doors into garden - we have those elsewhere in house already. Also, don't want the extra expensive of rewiring/plumbing/drainage etc to put kitchen where dining room is, or have the dining room at front of house looking at road. Paddyart, yes I was trying to get things inside which reflect local colours - as you will see from front of house, the porch is made from reclaimed local sandstone, which I love and there is a mixture of granite and sandstone river rocks in front wall and garden border edges (which I found in garden and lugged into place myself!). Do you think the sandstone colour (pinky red) would work as a highlight/accent colour with the grey? I dont want a too frosty grey feeling on cold highland mornings! Sorry, I will go away soon and not bother you all; thanks everyone for suggestions, much, much appreciated and getting there gradually with all your kind help....See MoreWhat colour wall paint for kitchen with cream cabinets
Comments (5)Hi Joanne, Questions to ask yourself are Would you like the room to be : - brighter or darker - cosy or fresh - feel larger or smaller - feel warmer or cooler - feel cheery, neutral or moody Also which way is the room orientated north? What are the other colours that are in the rest of the house? If these colours are all cohesive the spaces will link well and the house will feel larger. Interior Designers can offer a colour consultation - this is brief example of some of the factors that should be considered but the full service is best in person as the designer can get the feel for the space and samples can be viewed in the correct light which makes all the difference. We are based in the Wirral and Cheshire, local designers can be found on Houzz. Many thanks, Ellen Interior Designer...See MoreBenjamin Dhong Interiors
