Paint color for the spare room

This is a photo of how my spare room looks. The floor will be changed to a very light color laminate and the items you see in the pictures will be in the room. A dark grey fold out bed, two of the white closets and the white and blue ikea curtains.
I was thinking of going for a navy blue and white theme because of the colors that already there, maybe with an accent color somewhere. But what color should I paint the walls and ceiling? I would love an intense dark blue shade, I think that would love awesome with the white furniture in front of it and the light flooring. But perhaps it would be too dark for the relatively small room and especially if the ceiling and beams in the ceiling would also be dark. What do you think? Any tips for this room? Thank you!

10 years agoThis cabinet is going to be in the room too. On this the knobs can be changed and so can the color of the entire cabinet if it suits the room better :)

10 years agoI guess with dark navy blue and white combination on the walls you need not change the colour of the cabinet. It would look lovely.

I'm not sure if I'm on the right track re what you're after (I just saw the perfume bottle!) but I've found pics of Chanel Andy Warhol prints, you could add one large print opposite the bed and use this as your colour inspiration. You could then add X colour velvet cushions on the bed and a fur throw similar to pictured although I might layer another throw under the fur one and drape the fur one. Is there room for some accessories on the tables? Perhaps flowers, candle, alarm clock, water glass etc, normal stuff for guests! Comments (11)It sounds to me that the room needs some pattern and the wallpaper idea will sort that. If you are trying to avoid florals there are lots of geometric or retro patterns you could consider. You then likely need an additional accent colour and the earlier comment is right that pink goes very well with navy- but so do most other colours- in my opinion the navy is such a strong choice the accent should perhaps be a softer pastel colour but teal, white, coral, and brassy golds also contrast....See More

10 years agoI think navy walls will look really rich. I think I would leave the ceiling white. Not being able to see the whole room I might even leave a wall white. I think you could go with many accent colors. As indianpatti suggested chartreuse would look good with your grey sofa, or even orange would look good with the navy and grey.

10 years agoFirst of all you have a rather large window that is going to allow natural light in. We have a 13' x 30' family room in our basement that has wainscoting (white) about 3' up the walls, white ceiling and deep navy on the walls. It has 2 full size windows and a patio door and even though we don't get as much natural light as you it doesn't seem dark or dreary in the room. Plus light floors will lighten room.
I've mocked up some pictures for you showing different paint schemes.
1) Navy accent wall, light gray walls, ceiling 1 tone darker gray than walls.
2) Walls the same, ceiling stays white.
3) Darker gray accent wall, light gray walls, navy ceiling.
I like the navy. Go for it!

10 years agoI'm not sure the dark blue and the dark grey futon would look too great together on one wall. I do like the blue idea, but think you might need some sort of cover to help your bed blend in.
Just had to attach one of the bedroom photos I love, look how good the dark colour you have can look!
